Thank god, if they blew it after coming back in the bottom of the 9th it would have been horrible. Anyway a real wacky game but it was fun to watch. Though we clearly need to figure out the bullpen situation, as I doubt Lidge will be the answer, but I am hoping he will be.

Yeh I was talking about any save situation where its the last inning and the Phils have a lead. I just thought "anything resembling a 9th inning" sounded better than "anything resembling a save situation."

Anyway, I cannot even be rational about Madson anymore. Cholly needs to just stop putting him in as a closer. He just can't do it. We had a huge argument about this LAST YEAR, where I was upset he was being used in the closer role. I think the Phils just need to go out and get a closer, or just start bringing guys up and testing them out - they can't do any worse than any of the other scrubs that we have that have been tossed out there to close, and Lidge hasn't even pitched yet.

They are saying lidge is recovering well and has improved his mechanics back to 2008 form. We have to see how he looks first before they can make a move imo. If he sucks go try to get bell.

I know what Francis meant, I was just being sarcastic/trolling.

Anyway, I think the whole Madson saving thing is kinda overblown, it's not like he has a 1.2 ERA in the 8th and a 5.6 ERA in the 9th. They're both somewhere in the 3's. He's not really an elite guy, just a solid reliever, so he's going to blow some games whether he's pitching the 8th or the 9th.

With that said, I'd like to see Contreras in the 9th simply because he's been dirty sexy money so far this season.

what a gut wrenching way to lose a game, even if it's April...that was brutal.

But that's just standard; I've been hearing this about him every time he's come back since 2008.

Although, I suppose I don't really expect them to say, "Um, well, he looks pretty ****ing shaky and is having trouble putting away those double-A players, but we don't really have a better option right now." But I might respect them more if they did.

That game was so frustrating, nerve wracking, fun, annoying, wtf.

Either way we needed a little luck, things have been so busted recently so we will take it.

The Giants are a scary team btw, and with Rowand coming back?

oh and lol Eugenio Valez, what a butcher.
