What do you guys think will happen if Teheran is a legit ROY candidate, and clear top 4 pitcher in the rotation when Beachy gets back?

Is Teheran the clear choice to lose their spot even if he's pitching great, and Maholm is right around average?
Then they would not bring Beachy back if there was no clear pitcher to demote. Especially if Teheran has the year you are describing.

Yeah Beachy would come in and get spot starts on the weeks we don't have off days down the stretch. Then maybe a start in the last weekend to help us line up the rotation for the postseason.

I mean even if Teheran struggles I'm not expecting us to get a ton out of Beachy. Think about when Strasburg first came back in 2011. He had a handful of 5-6 inning starts and then was shutdown. I expect about the same from Beachy, if anything. Remember Medlen didn't even make an appearance until game 162 in his comeback year, and he had Tommy John in a somewhat similar time the year before.

It's possible that Mahalom could get dealt if that happens or be a lefty in the pen? Assuming everyone else is heathy and throwing well when Beachy is 100%

Having "too many" quality starters would be a good problem to have around trade deadline time.

I might end up going, but not 100% sure yet.

Minor getting rocked a bit today. I think everyone is ready to just get the season started and are in "go through the motions and don't get hurt" mode (at least I hope!).

Venters is hurt. Had to leave the game. Way to overwork him the past 2 years Freddie.

Sprained elbow leads to TJ (or should lead to TJ; sometimes they just rest for a long time then come back and aren't effective) a pretty high% of the time. Sigh.

That was actually a smart move regardless. You stashed him on the DL and picked up someone else, should have thought of that before.

I just did that in a $$$ league. Would be a nice late season boost.

Venters has an appointment with Dr. James Andrews early next week. Venters says he thinks everything is fine (he had TJ in 2006 and says this feels nothing like that injury).

We'll see. Two TJ's could very well end his career.

O'Brien had more on Venters- http://www.ajc.com/weblogs/atlanta-b...-these-braves/

relevant quote below-

"I did a little more research into his workload and found this: In the past 3 seasons, only four major league relievers have had a season with as many as 85 appearances, and two were Braves – Venters in 2011 and Peter Moylan in 2010. Both have had multiple injury problems since.

The only other two with as many as 85 appearances in the past three seasons were Pedro Feliciano, who pitched in 92 games for the Mets in 2010, and Randy Choate, who pitched in 85 for the Rays in 2010. But Choate only had 44-2/3 innings in those 85 apps. Feliciano had 62-2/3 innings in his 92-appearance season.

Again, Venters had 88 innings in his 85 appearances in 2011.

Of the pitchers with the 25 highest single-season appearance totals in past three years (each had at least 77), only four had as many or more innings as Venters’ 88, and none of those four had as many as 80 appearances."

It's no wonder his arm is hurt.

A friend of mine is into this Gattis thing hard. Hard enough that he's trying to get 50 people to buy this shirt so that it gets made.

11,351 people liked it on facebook and only 2 bought it, cheap bastards.

What does that T-Shirt have to do with Gattis though?
