Did you late pivot to oscar/costa from hazard + willian or have that all along? Wasn't confident oscar was going to play but love him as a gpp option when he does. Even more so now if he's taking all FKs.
Yea that one was a pivot. I believe I had Hazard + Remy. Lineup has 1400 leftover in it actually

Ya my chance at big money was largely killed by everton + bournemouth players not really producing. Was really weary about everton but figured with baines out mirallas would get a ton of FK duty. Looks like barkley was their real standout instead.

In general i didnt like the quality of forwards available as i tend to loathe static center forwards and greatly prefer wingers.

I didn't play any GTD's today, but won every contest I was in (h2h's and doubles). Good start to the season!

grats TJ

wish I played more today, profit all over but didn't really risk a ton since the slate was kinda gross

Today was prob most I ever had at risk (4k+ or so between mg/dk). Prob broke even or so depending how Tom goes for mg. Considering Bournemouth and everton were flops and I was heavy heavy on them I'm okay with that.

Also looks like palace and pardsgoat going to continue to be fantasy royalty along with leicester.

Good first sweat, had to check the updates on my phone but MG worked ok. Only played the full weekend slates so no results until Monday.

Glad everyone else seemed to have reasonable days.

Is there somewhere on MG where I can see the % owned of each player?

I can't see it anywhere Bouncy ball. Would be interested to know that too.

Enjoyed my first day on MG, but I hope that scores will update a bit more quickly in future weeks. Fabregas still showing as 0 points for everything, and Darmian not credited with clean sheet.

Envious of you all the American players who have DK which sounds like it works a bit more smoothly (and presumably has far more liquidity). Congrats TJ on what sounds like a great win.

Ya mondogoal definitely is a bit buggy and small ball, but they are working on a fairly shoe string budget. Their VP of marketing used to work for DK and is a big soccer fan so his interests are def in the right place with wanting to make a quality game. I just don't think they have the budget to plow through the quality of life changes needed to make it easy to put in tons of volume.

That said the site is really soft still and there's usually decent overlay so i put up with it.

Also no player owned % which sucks.

won about 225 off 500 wagered. feels slightly disappointing. gpp's didn't go well even though my player pool did really well. they all ended up with almost the same # of points and none aligned with multiple standouts.

courtois red card hurt me quite a bit.

i hated the pricing today. hazard was the only expensive player i actually liked. i don't know if i even tried for one combo and couldn't make the salary cap work. basically just pick whoever you want with no limit. takes the fun/edge out of it.

Issue with EPL is they always like having one of the bigger teams in each time slot across each day so you often end up with not having luxury players on the same slate. Honestly at this point I think the possible edges are MUCH MUCH bigger in MLS than in EPL because of this.

From what I can tell, MG is not as soft as DK -- but that's not something I'm able to back up with stats or anything

Players in cash games consistently never adjusted to the scoring differences b/t dk and mg and would play heavy fouling players.

They nerfed foul points on both sides so this isn't as bad a leak as before.

wp

got a couple of teams with potential on mondogoal as there's still a lot of games left, but benched guys will probably kill most of them e.g. hennessey, mings

should have probably gone with safer picks for the first game rather than trying to block out the defense with a single team

When you guys talk about 'cash games', are they the heads-up ones where you either lose or double up? Or is it something Mondogoal doesn't have?

Have to say the rake on Mondogoal seems like it would be impossible to beat in the heads-up games unless up against completely clueless people - have to stake £250 to win £200.

Ya not knowing if aguero is gonna start is a bit of a mind ****. I hate my lineups today. Don't have Cech in cash so that's good at least.

Cash games are basically non tournament style.

Cisse did alright today. I'm mostly on LFC and City today, but got off to a bad start with Ox late replacement

Not touching pool at all. Stoke is very solid at home and I'm not too high on pool.

I was half and half with soton + newcastle in my gpp, went soton for cash. cedric + tadic did fine, but obv cisse and wijnaldum had great games (had both sparingly in gpps). Goalies continue to be a variance fest.

I may sit down later this week and do some work regarding GK points. I largely expect the answer to be it really doesnt matter who you ****ing pick for the most part. GKs who are likely to win + keep a clean sheet won't face many shots so can't make up points if they get scored on. GKs who face a lot of shots aren't likely to win or keep a clean sheet and run the risk of getting pounded so i would guess the point expectation will be somewhere similar for both.

Most GKs have a save % of around 70 so in a vacuum it's +ev for your keeper to face more shots since (.7*2)-(2*.3) = .8 points gained every time your keeper faces a shot on target. However you then need to factor in the EV of losing clean sheet and win pts.

I think ultimately GKs should be an after thought and be fit in based on whatever salary you have left over on your team to get the players you want else where.

I'll do some more math later on this and post my findings, feel free to chime in though.

Big +1 to this, any idea how long it usually takes them to sort out final points/prizes after all of the games have finished? e.g. the leader of the Sunday league, lolmath:

@ DuckSauce this weekend if anything shows how unpredictable/hard to come by clean sheets are (obviously the first week is a bit different though). I generally went with a strat of having defence/keeper from a single team which doesn't look too great for Mondogoal in hindsight given that CBs are pretty reliant on clean sheets to gain their points.
Without doing any maths on it it seems to me like unless there is a really obvious clean sheet potential keeper at a decent price then a cheaper option with save potential is the way to go generally.

Still no change to the screenshot posted by TWhelan above. I'll continue to play Mondogoal because I think it's +EV (at least while there's a good amount of overlay), but I was hoping it would be 'fun' too - i.e. spend the day watching football and seeing scores update quickly for my teams. Instead it's just a case of waiting to see how the points/standings end up when they finally sort it, because there are clearly so many mistakes at the moment. Fantasy nerds like me will still play, but it's going to be very tough for them to convince any casual players they currently have to stick around with the current setup.

Yeah exactly, being able to sweat your team's score in real time (or close to it) will be the main thing that keeps the interest of recreational players.
People will also start to think it's rigged etc if they see buggy scores in the lobby.
