i say we wait at least 4-5 hours after a trade is announced to give some counter-offer opportunities. i think it's a really important system.

Do we have to pause the draft for our approval period? Feel bad holding things up.

I gotta second Karak, we need some kind of waiting period for trades during the Rookie draft. I'd say 12 hours since some guys are away from their comps more than others. WE have a month til the season starts so there should be no hurry.

We've had more trade offers in the past two days than in the previous two years.

yea but with that trade it's been so beaten to death that he should jsut go for it. perhaps after 1-2 counters have been offered/accepted, we can waive the deadline

Most of that is my fault haha.

Oh I plan on picking Rendon when I can legally pick. Luckily I think Ludo is already gone for night but hate holding things up. Cuz I have a bunch of picks coming up so we can run through a bunch of picks fast

Yeah, this has sort of complicated things.

I can see an acception for that trade, I don't think we need 12 hours for every counter. Didn't see your post when I made mine.

On the one hand, I still think there should be a waiting period. While these trades have been discussed for a while, they weren't made public until tonight. So it's not like there's been much of an opportunity for those outside direct negotiations to make a counter-offer.

That said, I think the fact that all this is going down in the middle of the draft does matter. IRL, GM's call up however many teams to explore options, but once a pick is shipped during the draft, it's pretty much gone.

I'd like to hear some other opinions, but I feel like there should be some kind of buffer period before a trade goes official, but definitely not the full 48 hours we've used in the past.

We do have lots of time to get the draft done and I don't think the trades have held it up any more than people just not being around to make picks in succession (which is how the thread drafts always go anyway).

let's just have the trifecta knock heads together on each trade and we can handle it on a trade-to-trade basis as far as approvals go. ill obviously recuse myself from the discussion on the recent trade im a part of.

I kind of like this idea though. The people accepting the offers in the first place would know if there was anyone else that had expressed interest. I think most of these deals have at least been advertised to some degree before hand.

So yeah, I guess I'd say just let it go through if there's a pending pick involved.

My opinion obv is probably biased. But I do like the idea of both sides agreeing to waive a counter period. Its great in a lot of situations but it some there might be reasons an owner would value a quick move over the potential of a better deal for roster siz, draft pick or other reasons

so just to be clear, the waivings can only occur when theres draft picks involved?

if so, then i agree.

i love all the activity

Leave the 48-hour period in IMO. I know we're eager to keep the rookie draft moving, and I want to too, but really, it's March 2. We can wait.

if a pick is involved and it in some way restricts whatever the current pick is... yes. pecota, exit and i can come to some sort of consensus (one or all of us depending on who is online) and push it through.

i will say no matter whether a pick is involved or not, i do want at least a few hours of hesitation before it goes.

If we are gonna wait it'll need to be more than a few hours, a lot of us check in once or twice a day max.

i think we're ok with waiting now when trades are involving big picks (1st and 2nd) and then we can speed it up for trades involving minor picks (3rd and on) going forward

Whatever we decide, I like all the trade activity, so no one feel guilty about potentially holding things up.

Levarkin accepts Lee counter-offer

Karak sends:

Pineda + Bourjos + Ortiz + Madson (assuming that trade goes through)

Levarkin sends:

Lee + Garza
