Excalibur - $434.77

which one would you choose based on these prices

do they seem high, 7 nights.
Ignore Flamingo as their basic rooms are not any better than IP basic rooms.

Ignore Hard Rock. Its off the strip and not any better than PH.

Ignore Bills. Its not worth $190 more than IP.

Ignore Excalibur unless you want all your poker action to be at MGM. It's too far from everything else.

So it comes down to IP and PH. Difference in price is $232 or around $35 a night. Plus I think PH has a $5 resort fee per day so factor that in.

Basically, is it worth it for you to pay $232 + resort fee more to stay in the Hilton vs Motel 6?

One additional factor is that if much of your play will be at Venetian, IP is much closer than PH....probably 10 minute walk closer.

Flamingo if you're a lazy fat ass that doesn't want to walk at all.
PH if you enjoy nicer rooms.

Both have different kinds of benefits (Flamingo, nice pools, closer to Bellagio, north part of the strip etc. and PH, nicer rooms, Miracle Mile). I'll let others elaborate.
Closer to bellagio? PH is the closesst hotel to bellagio.

Out the door the Flamingo is closer to the Bellagio poker room and the Venetian for that matter.

Hi,

I have a budget of about 8-10k for my Vegas trip (8 days).
About half of it is dedicated to poker and the rest is for food, drinks, shopping etc.

Last time I was in Vegas I had it all in cash and when I came home (with a profit) and exchanged it back to my own currency, I automatically lost 6% due to the banks different buy/sell rate.
So I wonder if its better to just bring 1k or so in cash, and reload from the ATM if needed. This might minimize the amount of cash $ I bring back home to Sweden.

For this to be profitable the ATM fees cant be ridiculously high and the the casino, shop, restaurant etc must use the "official" exchange rates, no extra charges or fees.

Anyone that know what would be +EV here?

I doubt that. PH is directly across from the fountains. If I were a person that made prop bets, I would make one here.

Might get you from a standard to a Go room (which would definitely be worth $20), or from a Go to the Go Luxury.

Going to Vegas in June for a buddies wedding. Hoping to get some feedback on room prices. You guys think this is the best it will get, or should I wait a bit?

Classic and Roman Tower room both $169 a night.
Forum Tower Deluxe is $206 a night.
Palace and Augustus Tower Deluxes both $226 a night.

Thoughts?

I dunno, the poker room is way over on the side closest to the Flamingo. It'd be really close.

IF the distance matters that much then you probably need the exercise.

I always suggest i4vegas.com. The rates you posted look pretty standard/reasonable. It's always a good idea to compare with the hotels' own marketing system to make sure you can't get a better deal.

I have no experience with the hotels you list, so I can't make a recommendation. I go for the cheapest rate I can find, and right now the Super 8 behind Bally, and the Gold Coast (Sun-Thurs) have some very low rates on i4vegas.com.

When I traveled to Europe, I primarily used the ATMs to get money. It's more convenient than money shops IMO, and the exchange rate is usually better. There are lot of bank branches off the Strip where locals bank, and the ATM fees there will be reasonable. Many of the ATMs in casino/hotels are actually owned and operated by entrepreneurs who charge higher fees.

I also recommend using credit cards as much as possible.

An acquaintance has recommended Batista's hole in the wall. Any good?

It's definitely fun with a group of people. All you can drink wine and decent food. Fun atmosphere. I wouldn't recommend it if you were going on a romantic Italian dinner date though.

Y? You like boxed wine and "Italian" that is worse than Olive Garden?

People that recommend Batista's REALLY need to qualify that they are from the midwest along with their recommendation. They also need to qualify that they think large quantities of food automatically = good.

Thank you for saying in one post exactly what I think but don't have the balls to say myself. Now brace yourself for the flamery.

While I agree with pig4bill in general, I think this might be closer than first appears. Keep in mind that the Bellagio poker room is a lot closer to the mall than the front door - while Flamingo is a little further than PH, it's at least partially offset by not having to track all the way through the casino floor. Also, note there's no straight shot from the front desk to the poker room, either - if you make the stipulation that one must stay on the walkways when walking through the casino floor, I might actually lean towards Flamingo.

You go to Batista's for the experience, not the food. And it's not that great an experience, but it is the restaurant that was used for filming in Casino. Lots of pictures on the walls and the old accordionist tottering table to table. And yes, all you can drink wine included with every meal.

If you go expecting fine dining, you'll be sorry. If you go because you're wanting a touristy Vegas dining experience, it's fine. The food isn't toxic (though the wine just might be ).
