Hey guys, going to be live pro'ing it for about 5 weeks in vegas this summer.

Is there an existing thread listing the rake in the larger casinos on the strip?

where's the best place to stay in vegas if you don't club, pool, but like to chill, maybe hear some good live music and cheaper but good eats, get your poker on, and appreciate old school vegas more than the glitz glamour and bull****

Minus the old school, I'd say Red Rock. Otherwise, downtown. Golden Nugget.

Note that "old school Vegas" is usually code for "****hole."

Prob Flamingo, the school don't get much older.

I would've said Stardust <sniff> but they blew it up.

Ha, Harrahs / IP is usually where I like to hang out most.

Stardust Sportsbook was legendary. Had so many good times in that place. Damn shame, does anywhere capture that same atmosphere on gamedays? LV Hilton?

lol. I've me two old timers who can remember being cheated in poker at the Stardust. That being said, the 3/6 game I played in 2005 where most hands were 4bet seemed to be on the straight.

It's just called "Tequila Bar and Grill" and it's next to the sidewalk cafe. If you're walking in from the strip, walk through the pit and keep going towards the back. It's on your right just before you get the the escalators that take you down to the shops in back.

"Cheap" and "on the Strip" are mutually exclusive terms. Expect to pay 2x-3x the off-strip price of massages, manicures, haircuts, etc.

Thanks. I haven't stayed at Bally's for a few years, and it wasn't there then. Bally's was a miserable penny-pinching place back then that closed almost every food source at midnight, including room service.

Hi guys its probaly posted in this thread somewhere but I dont feel like looking through the numerous amounts of pages...

If me and a few friends are coming to play the WSOP for the week of july 5-12, would it be best to stay on the strip? If so, what hotel reccomendations would you reccomend? I'm not so much on a budget, but my friends defiently are, but we deff would rather not stay in some dive hotel.

We were looking at harrahs, but I'm open to other suggestions.

Keep in mind it'd be best to stay where most of the action is taking place, ie. clubs/bars/nightlife/etc

Since you didn't say what you mean by "best" I'll guess that on the strip is better because it's where all the action is.

harrah's is prolly your best bet if you're on a budget and still want to be on the strip. the next step down is imperial palace, and it's a rather large step down. harrah's also has a shuttle to the rio.

Came to the thread to post that same question.

If there isn't a cheap one, are there at least some that are reasonable priced? Can be anywhere on the strip or a few blocks off. Before I'm gonna spend $80 on a haircut that costs me $20 at home, I'll prolly use my hair trimmer and do it on my own.

10%, cap at 4$ usually. Depends on the casino though and during the WSOP the Rio has 10% and 5$ cap iirc.

Guy above is an idiot.
