I get regular comps at FW and was hoping to try to set the same thing up at one of the rooms in Vegas. The plan is to focus my play in one room and just play long sessions for the week when I'm not at the conference. Best casino to have a chance at getting comped rooms at 2/5nl? I play mixed too but can't go above 10/20 right now, would that help?

Thanks.
You could and probably still can convert your FW points to MGMcorp cards. 75 pts forr a $50 card at the FWMGM gift shop, and they can pay for rooms or meals at any MGMirage property.

Yeah, I miss staying for free in that town.

Nope. FW ended that a couple months ago.

If you want to walk 45 minutes in hot Las Vegas weather, go ahead (Area you are walking through is probably shady as well).

Let's just go with "no". The airport is a dreadfully unfriendly place to pedestrians. I doubt if there are sidewalks along all the streets, even. And it's not like you can just walk from the terminal to Tropicana in a straight line, 'cause there are runways in the way. Taxi cab authority says it's 2.7 miles from airport to Tropicana and I doubt you can shave much off of that by walking. Google maps suggests you can shave it to 2.3 miles by walking down Paradise instead of going to Swenson. (Paradise is one way the wrong way to get from airport to Trop, but on foot that wouldn't matter.)

Pay the $14 for a cab--Vegas vacations cost too much per hour to spend 'em dragging your luggage along Paradise. (But don't pay more--if you see the tunnel or I-15 during your journey to Tropicana, just refuse to pay the long-hauling thief.)

Online gaming in vegas is now legal!!!

http://www.americancasinoguide.com/c...tel-rooms.html

The Nevada Gaming Commission has unanimously approved a new regulation that will allow the use of mobile communication devices for casino guests to gamble in their hotel rooms.

The state's current regulations allow mobile gaming in some public areas of licensed casinos, such as restaurants and swimming pools. Effective October 1, the new regulation will allow mobile gaming from hotel rooms, parking lots and garages, or anywhere else that gets approval from the Control Board chairman.

Cantor Gaming is expected to be one of the first companies to offer the expanded gaming because they already operate mobile gaming systems at four Las Vegas casino hotels: the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the M Resort Spa Casino, the Tropicana Las Vegas and the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The company also manages the race and sports book at the Venetian and Palazzo.

Due to fears that underage gamblers may get access to the devices, Mark Lipparelli, chairman of the Control Board, said the state may require some sophisticated form of user identification for the devices such as a biometric ID.

^^^

It's kind of dumb, they launched those things awhile ago for sports betting and didn't get much traction. So, when something is basically a failure, time to expand? Doubt anyone wants to play video blackjack in their hotel room.

I see a future for these things. What's the over-under on what time the maid is finally going to clean my room? I'll give you 2-1 that room service forgets the steak sauce.

As a visitor from overseas, is there a good place/way to get a cell phone for a week or so?

I have an iphone 4 so I could replace the SIM with another cell phone companies, but I'd also be open to buying a cheap-ass handset and getting a SIM card to go with it...

Is Vegas worth going to Dec 26-29th range or is it super super dead and boring? Any ideas on if poker rooms will have decent volume these dates?

If you're going to go to Wallmart and don't have your own vehicle, be aware that many cab drivers/companies don't seem too keen on venturing away from the Strip to pick people up. I once got stuck at Wallmart for several hours getting the runaround from more than one cab company on the phone claiming they were sending a driver out to pick us up, who never showed. Eventually we got a cab but lost a lot of time.

How early would I need to book for Ka and O?

Would tickets be available on the day? Weeknights/Weekends?

I hate planning but want to see these shows at the end of this month, but dont want to miss out because I didnt book. Should I be booking well in advance?

I asked about O a couple weeks ago and I ended up just calling the Bellagio and getting tickets a few hours before the Saturday night show. I guess if you want a better choice of seats you can book earlier but I was happy with the 'obstructed view' ones. They were just balcony seats, nothing in the way at all.

If someone gets a cab company to send a cab to take them, they should call the same company to send a cab to pick them up. Better yet, get the cell phone number of the cabbie and be sure to give him or her a good tip when getting out at Walmart.

Will definitely do so if it comes up again. (Though I doubt it will, nowadays I just rent a car.) We just grabbed a cab at the hotel, not paying much attention to what company it was or getting the driver's name or number. I did tip the guy a reasonable amount, but just figured we could call any cab company from the phone book when we were done and get a pickup. So yeah, don't do that.
