The ESPN WSOP formula is pretty simple. Do something stupid and obnoxious that contributes the image of poker as XXTREME 2 THA MAXX and get on television. See Hevad Khan, Scotty Nguyen, the barking guy, Phil Hellmuth, Mike Matusow, etc etc.

and Robl catches Quads 9s on the river, not on the turn! Get your facts right one time

Whoops. I remembered most it correctly.

Then came a hand that will probably go down in poker history as one of the sickest hands ever! Toby Lewis looked down and saw QsQh and raised to 6,000 on the button, Andrew Robl flat called in the small blind with 9d9h and Yevgeniy Timoshenko called in the big blind with a pair of twos. The flop was right out of the top draw, Qc-9s-Qd giving Lewis quads and Roble a full house. Timoshenko checked, Robl lead out for 18,000 only to see Lewis make it 65,000 to play. Timoshenko quickly folded and Robl called. The 5s arrived on the turn and Robl check-called a 65,000 bet from Lewis. Then the killer card showed up on the river, the 9c giving Robl quad nines! He moved all-in and was instantly called by Lewis who could not believe his or Robl's luck! A truly sick poker hand. Robl walked away, flabbergasted, but with $20,000 in his back pocket!

Party Poker's use of the term 'Open' is consistent with the generally accepted use in professional sport, an invitational professional circus with a couple of back door entries. Up there with the term World Series.

Thanks for yet another very entertaining show. Kathy Liebert and Xaston were both great guests.

Though I was dissappointed you didn't talk about or ask PS Steve for his take on the fact that many of the WCOOP have failed to beat their guarantee prizepools ,definitely good news for the players who register , but it seems to bode badly for the site that the projected interest in the event has not materialized.

Yeah, I had it in my WCOOP notes to talk about that but failed to bring it up. By my count there were three events with overlay so far(two on Saturday) but it could be more.
