Sounds like the perfect time to divorce Mrs. Les and pursue your dream obese monstrosity, you know she'll always be DTF if you keep it fed (so long as you can get it through all the flaps and folds, maybe just the tip).

i love the routine, getting up at 8-9 doing the same thing every day 4-6 days a week (partying happens). i could see where i could hate a routine if i didnt choose mine though.

being a successful professorial x is having a discipline routine.

the ****** part of being a professional poker player is having no routine
02-09-2011 , 09:09 PM
i know that everyone is different but i honestly think that having a solid routine can make you a worse poker player. getting up and doing the same **** every day can make you complacent and make you stop thinking about the game. if you structure your study time and feel that you have to do it, i believe you get much less out of it.

if you have a dynamic life style and still get in poker and study because you want to then you are much more likely to make mid-high stakes imo then trying to grind the **** out of ssnl.

not that im advocating the way i do things, obv travelling all the time and only playing ~300k hands last yr and around 20k hands so far this year is a terrible idea if your trying to bank a chunk of money every yr. but a balance between the two i feel is idea. poker is a dynamic game, go with the flow and use the perks it gives you over the real world jobs.

this is very true, I always play better and think more about the game when I don't have a schedule to keep

Tahoe? Reason I ask is I live up here.

My daily routine is get up 8-9, ski, maybe play poker, maybe not, drink, sleep, rinse & repeat. I usually grind poker pretty hard on weekends, and take it easy on weekdays.

Sammy, are you hiring?
I feel like if I try it again, I'm going to need a routine. I was doing months of 100k, than 30k (hands) just because Id drink on the weekends, roadtrip etc.

If I do it again, I'm going to try to schedule something out.

Side note, has anyone ever heard of being staked by someone and rooming with them?

The reason I ask, is it would be wayy easier to do with someone doing the same thing everyday, and not wanting to distract you. Also not having to worry about not making rent etc. Hope that makes sense. Im rambling

I was less than impressed, however, by the hosts. Now, I have never listened to that particular podcast before, so I don't know those two guys as all, maybe I just don't know their shtick yet. First, every time you finished speaking about something, Jeremiah was totally distracted like he was reading e-mails or something. He would just say "Hmm.. yeah.. um... interesting. So, you play rush, huh?" Second was the running joke about how stupid the other guy was. You weren't exactly explaining beginner concepts, but even most of us regs in uFR have studied COTWs on a lot of what you spoke about. Like, with someone who has a high fold to 3-bet% you should 3-bet with a polarized range, etc. But their reaction to all of your concepts was just "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? I bet you don't do that at 3/6, John, amirite?" This is supposed to be a cash game poker show?

Anyways, you handled yourself very well, DR. Make some more CR vids already, kthx.
Thanks man. I got a new series coming out on February 15th as I mentioned in the podcast.

Thanks man. I didn't know I was following famous pros or anything like that... who else has been on the show? I'll have to start following the show more now since I've gotten an invite to return for some future shows.

Like talking about 4b and fold to 4b......OH, I dont use that stat, maybe I should? So wait, u play 6max and you don't use 4b and fold to 4b or 3bet vs steal, maybe the 3 most important stats in a 6max game? And isn't jeremiah smith a tournament player? I've never seen or heard of him in any cash game context before.
You ask me why I think you are hostile. This is why. First, John is Nicolak on FTP... and crushes 400-1knl w/o using a hud much. That's pretty goddamn impressive if you ask me and way better than i could ever do. And Jeremiah goes out of his way in the show to say he's not the best player. Why do you insist on berating everyone?

I have him marked as a huge fish playing 36/30 fullring over pretty big sample.
I still think it's pretty cool that damnringer got on though.
I didn't follow the show before the request from john for me to appear on it. I thought Jeremiah did a great job and was very professional. Again, I don't think he claimed to be crushing any live games.

Overall, thanks for the love guys. I've gotten an absolutely unbelievable amount of positive feedback from the show. I'm going to be trying to do this sort of thing more often. Sorry if I missed anyone saying they enjoyed it... I tried to find them all. Also zrap, you seem to be kinda serious with your comments. My bad, if you feel pissed. If you are levelling, you own me.

agree with everything Laciek said but...

different things work for different people and i would bet the better "grinders"* have better and more consistent results over all

*to clarify now, Durrrr and ivey arent "grinders"
