Looks like most of the LIV'ers will be able to apply for re-instatement, once those terms are agreed upon, for the 2024 season, so still only the righteous ones get into the USO or The Open Championship.

I'm guessing LIV/PIF decided that it's better to gain some form of control for their money spent, so they likely approached Monahan with an enticing offer. Monahan probably realized that the player pool for PGA Tour was not getting much better, so he decided to surrender some power in exchange for getting the LIV players back + forming a world-wide tour with potentially huge purses. I also believe PGA Tour was not in solid financial footing going forward, losing Honda sponsorship was the canary in the coal mine indicating that the bifurcated tour was not sustainable.

Kind of a win-win-win for everybody.

Win win win win for the LIVeraters if they get to keep that guaranteed $

crazy that Monahan made this decision without engaging his players (according to reports). might the Players Advisory Board be looking into steps at how to remove him from his post?

more news to follow, of course, but crazy that the PGA Tour (Monahan I suppose) consciously made the decision to get in bed w MBS. wild stuff

With the potentially huge purse structure going forward, I'm thinking the players have to be loving this development.

This might also explain why the Tour delayed announcing the 2024 schedule.

I can't believe Rors was not involved in the discussions at some point. I'm guessing he back-channeled a lot of this.

Aslo part of the agreement is creation of a single "for profit" entity.

That gets PGA Tour out of its machinations of a not-for-profit organization. A for-profit entity has to be the biggest selling point for LIV/PIF.

I think it was a number of things happening. More PGA players were going to make the move after this season, LIV was likely to start getting OWGR'S soon and the court battles weren't going to go in the PGAT's favor.

Have to hand it to Phil and Norman. They weren't happy with the professional golf landscape and they went out and changed it. This is a huge win for pro golfers no matter what tour they play on.

Haha he's oddly quiet on twitter right now. I thought he'd be losing his mind by now.

The main thing I'm wondering now is if the best LIV players will be able to play a minimal amount of PGA Tour events while competing on LIV. And what it will take to keep your PGA Tour card going forward.

Moral of the story, never turn down a significant pay raise for doing the same job.

Bottom line is that the PGA saw that most people had shrugged off the Saudi blood money angle. No one seemed to care after the first couple of weeks or so. So they figured, let's end the lawsuits and get the Saudi money.

Kinda sad imo but money always wins.

The devil is truly going to be in the details here. Whole announcement is at about 500,000 feet of what will need to happen.

PGA Tour and Jay are just....wow.

Looks like Greg Norman is out. Personally Jay Monahan should be out. What a total hypocrite he and all the anti-LIVers look now. He just took the money that he told all of the PGA players not to take.
