Saw the True Vegas shoe in store last week, looked way less roomy than the Tours I've been wearing. Going to be super disappointed if they go too far in that direction.

BO should have just told that guy fivesomes aren't allowed there. If that doesn't work or for some reason fivesomes are allowed there, then just tell him "We got a big money game going here and would rather play by ourselves. I'm sorry but you can go on ahead."

If that doesn't work then the four of you just start walking toward him with your dicks out. I bet he leaves.

Definitely definitely go play Cobblestone Park GC. It's USC's home course and it's pretty awesome. Try to play the Garnet & Black sides.

We always made it a 36 hole day between Cobblestone and GC of South Carolina at Crickentree -- a solid course as well.
thanks for these recs. Played the gold and garnet sides at Cobblestone. Definitely seems like a course where knowledge of the layout would help a lot as there were a few blind shots and holes where one side of the fairway was a lot better than the other. It started raining while we were on the 8 tee at Cobblestone so not the best weather, but we dealt with it. I really liked the layout and almost every hole seemed interesting or thoughtful. We played GC of SC yesterday morning after 3" of overnight rain. Conditions were pretty bad, but we weren't gonna let that stop us. I thought this layout was decent too, especially for the price. Fairways and greens were in ok shape, but everything off the fairway was a little unkempt in what looked like a "we didn't quite have the money to maintain the rough" type manner.

Man that long winter completely ruined my swing. The game isn't even enjoyable right now. If I do hit it, I thin it. Normally hitting it fat, forget about straight, even topping my drive after I worked so hard to be able to hit it up to 260 last year. Wow just wow. So frustrating.

im going to try and play pebble beach in june as a single. they don't accept tee times in advance unless you are staying at the resort. basically the only way for me to play is to walk on. anybody had success doing it or should i save the money and play somewhere else. only have 2 days in the area

You might want to look into Spyglass, Spanish Bay, Bayonet and Black Horse at the old Ft Ord military base, or even Pacific Grove for an inexpensive muni with holes along the ocean. If you can travel up to Santa Cruz, then def try to play Pasatiempo.

We had a single playing with us when I played in June. He said that the guy told him that if you show up first thing in the morning there's a pretty decent chance you get on.

Pebble is just so cool though... I'd go for trying to get on that. The rest of the golf I played in Monterrey was fine, but not pebble.

After shooting 81 with 34 putts on Monday and making about 20% of my putts inside 8 feet all season, I've decided to give a Super Stroke grip a try. I figure what I need most is practice, but anything that can take my hands and wrists out of the equation as much as possible should also help considerably.

US Open local qualifying:

Can a player play in multiple local qualifiers or only one?

Who is playing a qualifier this year?

Hmm are you sure it wasn't just the FootJoy Mens MyJoys Custom Contour Golf Shoes. You can just pretty much design your own and I know both of those flags are offered

Might be. The strange thing is that it was only 190 euros and I thought that was really cheap for a shoe like that.

I do not watch a lot of the golf channel but just saw a commercial for the swing shot video camera on a spike. Looks like a pretty cool concept - solo video isn't always easy - but not sure that I am ready to spend $200-$400!

This is my 4th year golfing and after 3 years of unsuccessfully trying to kill the ball I am working on building a more fluid swing. I am completely unfocused on distance, my only concern is swinging smooth and eliminating all the tension in my arms.

To that end I've been doing the drill advocated by Brian Sparks in this youtube video - so far it has worked wonders in simplifying my thought process and giving me a more fluid, natural swing. He calls the move that he demonstrates the "le danse du golf" - I highly recommend checking it out.

I find a lot of those USGA Qualifiers are great ways to just get to play certain private courses that you otherwise might not have access to.

yeah if it's on a nice course it's great value, practice round usually ~$30 so you can play the course twice for <$200, one of the rounds being a USGA run event. If you can break 75 no problem, then go for it.

I did this and got to play Pinnacle a couple times. Love that course. Fav in Columbus that I've played so far. Not played Muirfield or Longaberger yet though.

Haven't played Longaberger but my buddy went out there last year and ranked it right near Pinehurst as his favorites of all-time.

Looking to grab a new set of irons this year. Outside of the brand and shaft, is there anything I should be looking for?

Also, any good website suggestions?

Looking to get new irons this season, so I went to Golftown today to take some swings.
I tried:
Ping Karsten
Ping G25
Titleist AP1
Callaway X2 Hot
Callaway Apex

They were all better than what I'm currently hitting (Callaway X22), but the Ping Karsten and the Callaway Apex really stuck out to me. Both very easy and smooth to hit, but it looks like I'm leaning towards the Apex now. (felt like it was just booming off the face with more control)

Plus, the 'master fitter' there suggested the Karsten is more suited for higher handicappers.

I'm going to sleep on it and if I still feel the same, I'm going to just grab the Apex on Monday.
