OK that's just incredible. I'm picturing crusty old millionaires who think 6 clubs beats 5 clubs. Dear Lord.

On a cruise ship this dude sat down with $100 (digital) and him and I got it all in I had something strong and he tanked and stared at me (lol fish) and called with 9 high. Guy next to me whispers in my ear "Does this dude know this is real money?" Guy looked at me and goes "I thought you didn't have it". Next time the drink lady came by I pointed to him and said "what are you drinking?" He declined. Someone next to me asked if I was buying for the whole table and I said "No just him. Anyone who loses a hundred to me on a sick beat I'm buying them a beer." I think the guy thought I was gay or something. Was just trying to be extra nice and keep him around. He stayed for a while and donked off like $300 in a half hour at 1/2 NL then left.

Sadly the only regular poker game that runs at my club is a $20 buy-in game where you start with 35 chips 1/2 blinds.

Blinds double every orbit AND every elimination

We usually start off around 15 handed, lol

I was just thinking today about a Bandon trip. I just wish it weren't so damn far away in the middle of nowhere. Then the huge prices on top of that. I mean, I guess I could go around New Year's, but I'd much rather go in the summer.

Although, hmm, if the poker games are that juicy...

interesting spot from a poker game at the club a few days ago. Post round, win 13k in a 5/10 plo game 3-handed against 1 decent player, and a 3rd who is black out drunk. The game started with the 2 of them challenging me to play, I in no way initiated the action. They all know I play poker for a living.

Yesterday get a text from said drunk, "Can we talk about a buy-out, I was black out drunk." Apparently these guys are used to just giving each other huge discounts on golf/poker losses, but I'd never played w/ them before.

Anybody give the guy a break? How much? Or just get the full amount and be done with it, and likely not play in the game again.

**** that. Ignore that text. Guy deserves it for getting drunk and challenging a pro. Think about it like this: If he took 7K from you and you texted him with "can we talk about a buy-out, you were blackout drunk" would he oblige? Hell no, he wouldn't.

Unless you are pretty loaded and the money doesn't really mean much to you, in which case I would consider it. Especially if the dude has children and you think money is tight for him (which it shouldn't be if he's donking off Gs).

I got a chance to hit my new miuras alongside my old taylormade MCs.

Good god do the MC's feel awful compared to the miuras. Like a flushed a few and they just have a very very different feel. Also have softstepped PXi 7.0 in the miuras compared to stock x100s in the MC's.

In reality I'm hitting these new irons better than I've ever hit my irons... I just haven't played much. My dispersion is crazy small since the shafts are actually fit properly. Everything I try to draw/fade has a gentle roll instead of a hard snap. Most of my balls seem to go dead straight and never move.

Excited to play more.

What's the deal with Jack Ham? How is this guy allowed to claim he has a world record 473 yard drive? I've tried to find legit info. about him and cannot.

Total scumbag liar? And if so, massive LOL @ the Golf Channel letting him advertise on their channel. Money be damned - **** that guy if he's a hustler.

A guy I played with yesterday was explaining to another person in our group how he's better from the tips than the blues at the course we were on. One example he gave was that there are holes where the fairway bunkers are out of reach for driver from the tips, but from the blues you'd have to club down to avoid them. I kept my mouth shut like a good playing partner but I was facepalming inside.

He shot a 77.

He probably meant relatively speaking

Yeah I mean just because the course plays shorter from tees up does not make it easier necessarily. For example, lets say I played the tips and my tee shots usually set me up for full stock shots. Then I move up and I get all these in between clubs bs or other stuff is now in play that wasn't before. Can definitely be a pain.

BYN, you know you could hit less club off the tee and leave yourself those same full stock shots?

I mean, I get the guys point. There are a couple holes on my course where if I'm hitting driver no matter what, the shot is easier from further back.

Yes of course. Im looking at it from more of the point of doing it for 1 round where I really would not know what to hit off the tees as I wont know what yardages Id end up with. Over multiple rounds it is definitely a different story

I see what you're saying but the context was pretty clear. It was just standard donk 'move up where they respect your raises' logic.

I'm with you Justin, that's pretty dumb. If you can just hit hybrid or 3 iron off every tee instead of driver and leave yourself with the same approach shot, you're still probably shaving 2-3 shots a round off your card just due to accuracy.

Heh -- The game gets most interesting towards the end.

They don't play down to a winner, but instead, payout prizes based off chip standings.

So if Top 3 win $, as soon 4th place busts, the game ends, chips are counted, and prizes paid out.

Lots of interesting spots with that dynamic and payout structure.

Definitely ignoring this text. Pretty sure if you lost 13k in the game that they wouldn't be offering you a rebate on your losses.

I went to golf galaxy today to get my clubs bent more upright. I jumped on the driver machine. Unfortunately it was locked so i couldnt see my swing speed to be able to calculate smash factor.

I am currently hitting an RBZ 9.5 lowered all the way (so i believe the face is also pretty open) with an Xflex Pro launch red standard length (to fit a 910 D3 that I put a RBZ tip on so maybe it is a bit long?) and my typical good shot is a push that falls left. My miss is the high right cut.

the only stats I could get are as follows.

Ball Speed :174.7
v angle 11.0
H angle 3.5*
side spin (minus) 567
back spin 2372
carry: 311
Roll: 24 yds
distance 335

I saw a trackman where poulter was having a smash of like 1.49 I think...does the only thiing where smash matters is hitting the club in the center?

I took a lesson with a very good senior player (monday qualifies for some senior events and tries to for some PGA events) and he recommended lowering the driver after I asked him about the covert. He recommended i just try delofting the RBZ...ever since that day I have added at least 40 yards to my drives. Before a great one was in the 290 neighborhood with 0 roll and a bad one would be around 250 to 270 now the good ones are 315 to 340 with two bombs yesterday one at 370 and one 387 (both were slightly downhill/downwind).

1) my numbers seem pretty good in terms of backspin, is my launch pretty good as well?
2) How much farther would I need to hit a normal length driver before I could be competitive for long drive competitions?

thanks!

First off these #s seem off to me. Given your ball speed and the the max smash factor of ~1.50, your clubhead speed appears to be around ~116. A 311 carry off that speed seemed crazy to me so I threw your numbers into "trajectory optimizer" over at flightscope.com

http://flightscope.com/index.php/Tec...optimizer.html

With your ballspeed, launch angle(11*), and spin rate, flightscope says that ball should carry 298 yards. Now I've heard of quite a few simulators at big stores like that being set to have a decent tailwind so the simulator says you hit it further than you actually do.

Overall, the numbers look pretty good. Regarding long drive, if your swing speed is around 116 mph with a normal driver I have to assume you are nowhere close to long drive competitors. A 116 average wouldnt even crack the top 40 on Tour much less the ReMax guys.

thanks NXT. I know that the distance multiplier was set to 1 (i knew to check that). I figured my swing speed may be a bit higher than that but it seems reasonable. The reason I was wondering is, since I have changed my driver settings, I have multiple times hit redic long drives. ( i drove number 5 at TP south on a sub 70* day from the blue tees) and several people have said they have never seen anyone hit it within 50 yards as long as i have blah blah blah. I don't get to parallel with my driver and havent experimented going past but feel i could definately swing a good bit harder. I will check out flight scope seems pretty cool!
