lol at your opponent, you have to accept what you're dealt in a situation like that and adjust your focus and rhythm accordingly. Sounds like you did that a lot better than he did, which is why you're moving on. Good luck in the final!

GolfNow situation:

Booked a twosome for me and my friend today in the NY area, paid in full through the GolfNow website. It's been absolutely pouring all night, day, and will continue to do so into tonight. Called the course and they are somehow open despite the weather. Called GolfNow and their policy is not to refund unless the course officially closes, which they verify by calling the course when you request a cancellation.

My buddy said he doesn't even want to drive up there or play because the weather is so bad. I'm wondering if GolfNow ever makes exceptions when the weather is horrendous, but the course decides to stay open anyway.

Anyone ever have a similar experience?

The trick is not to book hot deals when the forecast is terrible

they won't refund it for you, that's the risk you take with hot deals. just take the hit, you probably booked for an absurd discount anyway.

Booked it on Thursday. If I held off on booking 3 days in advance every time the weather looked dicey I'd never get any decent times/deals on the weekend. There are too few courses and too many players in this area, it's really tough.

FWIW, I called and asked nicely, explaining the situation, they called the course which said they were "strongly considering closing" for the rest of the day which was apparently good enough. Full refund.

I remember the exact same thing happening in Vegas a few years ago and gfnow refunded without much of a fight. Sounds like they may have changed a bit which sucks. Anyway gl hope they close that course!

Played in a money game yesterday, 5 par 3's on the course.

Brag - total of 3 putts on the par 3's
Beat - played them 2-under

Awesome ball striking!

Totally serious. Of course i only heard this from someone very high up in Fujikura R&D, what do they know about shafts?

Does kick point matter much? I remember back in the mid 90's the pro who used to fit me for clubs talking about it a lot.

There is no way they were being serious. The Shaft in a driver is far more important than the head and varying from one shaft to another makes massive amounts of difference.

NWC is right

I was just fully fitted on a trackman 2 weeks ago by a guy who knew every detail imaginable when it comes to ball flight laws/trackman.

One of the first things he said was, "you know how you always hear how important the shaft is?"

"yea..."

"well it's not true outside of the flex, [insert lengthy explanation here]"

Not once you are in the ball park with shaft and weight. Here is a classic shaft fitting

NWC is correct. I have heard this from so many people who have been doing fittings for companies for 20+ years now. I believe every bit of it too

This is a fitting you did?

Are there any dispersion numbers?

I did not do this fitting, someone I know went and got fit and these are his results.

Honestly, what are you going to gain from this though? He hit like 5 shots with each club..

It looks like in general he hits it 15-20 yards left of where he thinks he is aimed, and had some go 30 or so yards each way(roughly 6.5* offline at this distance) which is well within reason for a person of his skill level.

If he hit 50 shots with 1 of those clubs rather than 5 with 10 different clubs the scatter plot of his shots would probably be very very similar to the one above.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but if it's so clear cut surely there are graphs like the one you posted that show what you're claiming?

In other words, you say if he hit those all with one club it would be roughly the same. Are there other comparison charts out there that show that?

Your drives are fairly normally distributed, meaning that most shots will go towards the center of your distribution(for the player above he generally hits it left of where he thinks he's going to hit it) and then as you get farther away from that point the shots become less and less frequent.

Here is an example of someone's shot distribution all with the same club presumably(it's worth noting their overall dispersion is much wider than my friends, so likely they are much worse). Then I just randomly drew in the circles bc that's basically what taking a random 5 shot sample of a club is doing.

I can give you two shafts of the exact same weight and flex and they will give you two polar opposite ball flights. The shaft makes more difference than anything when it comes to ball flight.(Obviously this statement is considering different flex and weight as well.) If you are using the same weight and flex there is less difference, but it is still there.

In fact, I could give you 2 drivers(any brand or model just as long as they are the same)... One is an 8.5* and the other is a 10.5*. I'll put shafts in each that have the same weight and flex and I'll bet you my bankroll that the 10.5* driver will have a lower more boring ball flight with the same swing.

The club ho in me has given me plenty of personal research on shafts. Once I figured out the weight and flex that performed the best for me I tried more shafts than I'd like to admit in my driver(all the same flex and within 5 grams weight diff) and I can assure you that I found several different ball flights and launch conditions with the same weight and flex.

All I know is that whatever JAAASH says regarding golf is always wrong, so there's your definitive answer.

I'm sure this isn't the person to whom you were referring.

Haven't you made a fool out of yourself enough in the last few weeks? Kinda funny you're calling another person "wrong" when you had to embarrassingly slink back to this forum. We're still all laughing at you.
