Round 1 started solid with 3 of the 4 in the top 20, but only 2 serious runners after round 2 (Lee 2 back, Phatlum 4 back). Kerr really backed up, was -5 at one point yesterday, now 7 back at E.

Lexi just hit one of the worst pitch shots I've ever seen. It looked like one of mine.

Really want to see So Yeon Ryu have a good weekend. Seems like she's had one incredible round every event but hasn't finished.

They also just showed a meaningless Wie eagle putt ... did she give up on the tabletop method? It didn't look like she was that bent over.

She switched to how Jack Nicklaus used to putt I think. She still might do the bend over and **** me style on long putts though.

It always amazing me how some of these girls can shoot par with their distance.

What always amazes me is when you look at every club in their bag there is a tiny little wear mark where the ball strikes EVERY...SINGLE...TIME.

i saw that....... really horrible.

i swear 3 or 4 of the last 5 times i've seen her play she's hit horrendous wedges.....months ago, i saw her try to putt through 7-8 yards of moderate rough TWICE...

i seriously think lexi needs to take some lessons.......... i think she hammers way too steeply on the ball. her hammering down on the ball on her tippy toes is fine for long game but i think it affects her short game - obviously she doesn't hit it the same but i think the physicality is the same.

do you mean short hitters with amazing short games? i.e. they are doing well.

or long hitters with terrible - by pro standards - short games? i.e. doing poorly

btw, i get confused on names. has this thai woman won 2 in a row? the one who is very long....... is she also the woman who pulled it left into lake on 18th at palm springs?... i think YES on all that. but not sure......... if YES, i think it ties into what i said a few weeks ago. someone will come along who is long with good overall game. make it much much more difficult for lydia ko.

I mean the fact they can land a hybrid in the exact spot they are aiming. Not going to hold it against them that they hybrid only went 160 yards. For the most part the short games on the LPGA are sub par for pros compared to the mens, by a great deal.

This week the LPGA moves to the state of Michigan for the inaugural playing of the Volvik Championship. Michigan will now be the host to two tournaments on the LPGA schedule. This tournament will be played in Ann Arbor, while the Meijer Classic will be held in Grand Rapids in a few weeks.

Here are the key details:

Nice to see that Gerina finally cracked the top 15 of the world rankings. She has six top tens in a row, right now she'd be the best American chance for a medal if she can stay eligible. Cristie Kerr is like 19th, but I'd rather not have to root for her.

In other Olympic news, I saw that Julieta Granada has been chosen as the flag bearer for Paraguay in the opening ceremonies. Congratulations to her (and her mother)!

Hmm 84, nope she can still beat me. She really need to take a couple of months off and give the wrist some rest and regroup.

Thread title change to "All About Ariya" of she goes back to back to back?

Yup.

She's looking like a champ.

Also, as much as I root for Michelle Wie, she shouldn't be getting coverage when she's 14 shots behind on day 2, Golf Channel.

that thai woman is pretty impressive.......... end of lydia ko's reign?

i see brooke H having another nice week.

what is the deal with the inconsistency of women's sports? i'm thinking golf and tennis. are outside "female interests" incompatible with intensive focus on sports career? whereas intense golf/tennis focus is completely consistent with "male interests"...

I always find it amusing to look at the pics attached to the profiles (and scorecards) on the LPGA website. You then compare them to IRL and it looks like internet dating sites where they find the one single pic that makes them look amazing.
