Been a great night of golf - Langer being Langer earlier, another new winner on the men's PGA, and then caught the end of this. All of them clutch at the end.

Langer looked so relieved when he sunk that putt.

Yeah! I kind of wanted a playoff tbh, but I was glad to see him not have to go there too, especially after all of his past putting woes.

I think The Mechanic would have tid if the playoff had happened. Birdie putt with a glass of Rioja and cigar on the go..

In what was probably the most exciting finish of the LPGA season thus far, eighteen year old Brooke Henderson has won the 2016 KMPG Women's PGA Championship. She did it by defeating Lydia Ko, the number one player in the world, on the first playoff hole.

Yup proud CDN here wow did she charge back on tight narrow course. The amount of 10 ft putts she hit to save par was amazing

I never watched a round of the PGA just Seniors and LPGA

was discussing this today with someone:

what's the most LPGA pro's make/made off the course?

i was thinking Brooke is going to make a fortune but someone highly knowledgable said "no"..........

have Lydia/Lexi/Paula/Imbee/Annika/etc. - at various times - consistently cracked $5MM a year off the course? i would ignore michelle wie as it was special case...... realize my wording is a bit inconsistent on this one.

would sure help women's pay if it was like tennis where men and women's championships are played at same time and get equal TV time.

24 hours later, i think lydia was the much much better player...... but brooke had some great courage and some luck to get the win........ brooke may get much better from here, whereas lydia probably won't. and of course don't forget ariya

Lydia hit tons of putts too..... nothing quite like brooke on nailing long putt/chip.

scary that ariya played horribly and was only 1 stroke back........ think she needs to at least carry a driver. probably not hitting all 14 clubs anyway.

Consistently? No.

According to Golf Digest, last year Paula Creamer made 4.75m off the course. Lydia made 1.5m. Stacy Lewis, 4.0m. They're the only women in the top 50 in total earnings (off and on course). All 3 were right around 5m total.

Brooke will do very well for herself if she continues to play well. She's young, attractive and personable.

As for your last statement, I dunno, predicting improvement is a fool's game. I have no idea why Brooke would be more likely to improve than Lydia. And I read something somewhere that gushed about how a new rivalry was born between Lydia and Brooke ... hello? What about Ariya? You know, the player who just won 3 weeks in a row and finished 1 shot back? You gotta love the media.

i sort of agree that brooke won't necessarily improve more than lydia

basically lydia has been around lpga championship golf much longer than brooke. so that was my thinking.

brooke might regress i.e. press too much. lose her swing somewhat ala lexi/michelle. long, whippy swings can have problems ...... lydia isn't going to regress at all, i don't think.... of course, anything can happen to any of them.

i do think ariya is probably the story going forward.

anyway, lydia vs. ariya vs. brooke or some variation of those 3 vs. others should be very good for the tour

a few more brooke's and ariya's and life is going to be difficult for 85% of the LPGA tour - especially the short hitting very accurate types.

I wish they would set up the course harder on a day to day basis for them.

This week the LPGA travels to the state of Michigan for the playing of the Meijer LPGA Classic For Simply Give. This will be the third year year that this tournament is on the LPGA schedule. Many may remember last year's nail biting finish, when Lexi Thompson shot a final round 65, to come out one stroke better than Gerina Piller, and Lizette Salas.

Here is my preview:

agree 100%

i have little interest in watching golf robots that hit drives 230 yards down fairway and then within 30 feet on gigantic greens. that's the LPGA many weeks.

if they have to make things a bit easier for them on hard courses i.e. wider fairways, only moderate rough length, i think that's much more exciting.

one thing that surprised me at sahalee is i didn't seem them in trouble off the fairway much, and then when they might have had issues they got nice bounces... i guess on my tree-lined courses that i get alot of nice kicks from the trees.

The Cambia Portland Classic Presented by JTBC announced today that Mariah Stackhouse has been selected to receive a sponsor’s exemptions into this year’s tournament scheduled for June 30-July 3 at Columbia Edgewater Country Club. Stackhouse’s Portland appearance is expected to be her first tournament as a professional. Pretty happy to catch a little coverage this afternoon. I'm not surprised at all that scores are low, Blythefield isn't real long and I didn't think the greens were real tricky. It looked like they were rolling great.

Tons of names in contention and it's going to take four strong rounds to win!

The LPGA had its second and final reshuffle of its Priority List this past week. While most of the players moved up or down a few insignificant spots, there were some very significant moves also.

Here are the highlights:

I'm gonna say lol Wie before I even look.

Edit: 50th, guess I don't know how those rankings work.

She is 105th in the CME Globe standings. Get rid of Leadbetter already.

Have the ladies on the second screen. Lexi is fighting a bad back and having difficulty squatting to line up putts. She just tied the lead, though...

I was in Grand Rapids with several free hours today so I went to the Meijer LPGA Classic. Really glad I did. Got to see a lot of familiar faces - Lexi, Brooke, Lydia, Ariya, you name it - as well as a lot of lesser known names.

Got off to a great start -- the entrance was right by the 11th tee. As soon as I walked in Michelle Wie was on the tee. She promptly made eagle. I followed her group for a couple holes, she looked pretty sharp. Wie's group definitely had the biggest gallery among early starters -- I jumped over to the group with Sarah Jane Smith which had a gallery of about five people including me.

Watching from behind the par 3 12th was fun - the pin was cut about three steps from the back of the green, long was bad news. A few of the players - Ayako Uehara and Simin Feng for two - came over and stood in the shade after putting out. Tough day for Feng but I'm a fan.

Ariya had a driver in the bag today, I saw that she hit it on 16.

I saw a handful of less than stellar shots. Caroline Hedwall had quite a few choice words in Swedish after fanning a tee ball way right on 18 (or maybe it was 16, I forget).

No problem for most of the non-leader groups standing right at the ropes getting great views. While I was watching a group tee off on 9 Mirim Lee ducked under the rope in front of me on her way to 18.

Really a well run tournament. Parking was at a nearby high school with tons of shuttle busses. No problem buying a ticket on site and it was only $10. If I go again some time I'd buy the upgraded ticket, for $25 you got into a huge food court with a bunch of restaurant options and craft beers and stuff, all included. Regular concessions were priced a lot more like Augusta than like an NFL game, beers were $3, hot dogs $2.

Good times.
