LOL gfs. 4th most weeks at #1 in history (at age 25) = not all that impressive. That takes some "special" logic. Congrats on that.

You only need a 1-person tent for that camp that you are in.

That is all.
So, the 17 year window based on clearly stated facts is an "absurd conclusion", but the six-year cherry picked one that kind, of, but not really, supports your position is OK>?

Got it.

I think he's very impressive, but he's right that the majors aren't everything. They're tournaments by another name. The Masters doesn't even have one of the 10 strongest fields of the year. It's 90-100 players, a significant number of whom have zero chance to win the event. Compare this to other events that have full fields.

Just to give some balance (aka reality) to the majors vs reg tour argument from someone who, you know, actually plays in both of them. Today Jimmie Walker talked about how he had been working on certain ball flights for weeks specifically for the Masters. I highly doubt he does that for the Jack **** Open.

[ ] Proves anything with regards to whether winning the Masters is "better" than say winning the Players

It all comes down to strength of field and the Masters is not near the top of the list

Hypothetically, if you asked 100 tour players if they would rather win the Players or the Masters, how many would say the Players?

I would set the over/under at 0 and take the under.

No kidding. That doesn't mean beating the field at the Masters for a week is better from an actual golf standpoint from beating the field at the Players.

And it matters even more nowadays with the fields being so much deeper. Literally every single player in The Players can win. 144(I think) guys with a chance to win on Thursday morning.

The Masters, there is maybe 75

But it does indicate which tournament means more to the people playing in it. And if they consider it to be more important, then shouldn't that be a pretty good argument that it is more important?

Sure if we were trying to gauge importance. Seems to me were trying to figure out who the best golfers are, not who wins the most glamorous event.

  • Really friendly in press conferences
  • Smiling and hugging players in practice
  • playing in the par 3 contest

He has been humbled. It's not really his fault he never was, either.

If top players build their spring regimen on peaking their form for the Masters, then it can be a stronger field even if fewer players than another tournament.

Denying that would be like saying the Tour de France is less impressive win than another race because there are fewer riders.

Statically speaking he isnt impressive compared to what Tiger did. He has 1 more win than Tiger since 2010......think about that for a second and let that sink in. Hes got tons of missed cuts, not all that many wins compared to his starts, etc. List goes on. Great hes #1, not really anyone else tearing it up right now. Anyways he wont be #1 for long and wont end the year #1, Spieth will take that from him
