Hola,

CESPT (water company) is informing all of us that there will be NO water tomorrow Wednesday, November 7 from 6AM to 6PM (according to other news I’ve read). They will be working on the “El Carrizo Dam” which supplies our water.

By the same token, I’ve also read that when this has happened before sometimes we don’t have water for 2 days. Don’t know.

Make sure you fill your bathtubs with water and use it sparingly.

If you need information you may dial 073 – 24 hours a day.

Please pass this on to others that you may know.

Hey guys,

Great thread here - very informative and the Cliffs are nice as well. I'm currently an ex-pat in Turks & Caicos. My wife is yearning for a little more "civilization" and we're looking at Rosarito. We'd like to think we're fairly experienced relocating - and one thing we've learned is that you can never do enough research/prep. Thanks in advance for any answers. Also feel free to PM me on Skype (willybeer22) if you have any questions about Turks - beautiful beaches but very pricey!

Internet - the Cliffs doc seemed to indicate an aircard was the only reliable option. Is this still the case? It also indicated bandwidth is an issue. How much am I looking to pay for reliable internet that I can stream whatever I feel like? Is this even an option? Can I play Call of Duty competitively? :P.

Meat - the Cliffs also mentioned not to buy meat at the supermarket but find a good butcher. Is this for health reasons or are the markets just offering lowsy/overpriced cuts like so many American places do? We take our proteins seriously.

Weather - Turks is Le Paradise~~. Rosarito apparently has dark/ominious/shark infested/will drown you water (ok jk!). How many months of the year can I comfortably swim? Is the surf good for boogie boarding/surfing?

Standard of living - We've tolerated a broad spectrum since Black Friday but would prefer modern, updated amenities. Can I find tile/granite/stainless steel kitchens etc? Can we flush our toilet paper? Can we get a 2000 square foot condo?

I've read a lot about the driving - seems no biggie bringing an old beater of a car down. It will be interesting to see if the potholes in Rosarito are a rival for the ones in Turks. What about my dog? Can he be driven down w/ me through the border with ease or will he require a lengthy inspection? (We are used to providing whatever necessary paperwork/vaccinations/etc)

Thanks in advance for any replies - feel free to PM me on Skype if you'd like (please put 2+2 rosarito thread in contact reason). Sorry if I've asked things already answered - I did read the Cliffs and parts of this thread.

Oh, and if the legendary "nuts" Miguel is free to contact me to help w/ this relocation!!!

Cheers,

Will

It's an immigration form. I'm guessing you went to a bank that's strict with opening new accounts. It sounds like some banks are easier to open an account for US players than others.

I was thinking that, I actually went to 2 banks. first banamex, they said no so I went across the street to HSBC. i either have to find a bank that's not so strict or get that form. was hoping to online playing by Sunday, not looking good for that

the drive from san diego to rosarito is actually really easy and mostly highway, so i'm not worried driving my slightly nicer-than-normal car. but trips to the grocery store i'm still a little paranoid because i don't want to attract attention... i'm getting a secondary car that is more mexico-functional and it lets me be a little more inconspicuous in my daily journeys.
I would think something like a used Toyota pickup would be a good vehicle for down there. Nearly indestructible and easy to find in SoCal for a few grand.

Anyone need stars $? I need USD and can meet you in rosarito.

Also, anyone know if you can use a debit card from a mexican bank in the usa? Even if the funds in your bank are pesos or euros?

Thrifty San Diego Airport location (Laurel St.) will let you drive their rental cars into Mexico, but only if you purchase their in-house Mexican insurance at ~27USD/day.

Thinking about moving to Rosarito. Will be driving tomorrow from the Bay Area. This is the plan right now:

-Get BajaBound car insurance before I go
-Stay at Rosarito Beach Hotel for a few days
-Look at some apartments
-Drink some beers

Did I miss anything? Anybody want to help me out with the last one? I might be down to take a trip to tj as it seems like the nightlife is better there?

I just did this exact same thing. I drove down and stayed one night in san diego, then drove across the boarder the next day to meet miguel. He showed me 5 apartments and signed a lease on one, took me to the bank and set up an account, got me a cell phone and an air card all before 6pm. Doubt you need to stay at rosarito beach hotel for a few days. GL!

The only thing i would add is stop along the way at costco and fill a cooler with as much meat as you can fit.

Damn, I wouldn't have even given any thought to using someone's services to relocate but this is a solid ****ing review. How do his rates work?
