You're going to pay exactly the same tax as if you were in the US. You will pay 15% tax to Malta, which you will use as a tax credit on your US taxes because of the tax treaty we have with Malta (and most other countries) to keep you from double taxation. So there is no difference for you, except Malta is happy to have you there giving them money, hence the Malta rep in the other thread offering to help people acquire permanent residence.
