Yah I enjoyed 51, but 110 is a good start for people asking "Whats good in Cambodia" IMO

there's nothing insane about the hostess bars in phnom penh. you play pool or connect 4 and drink beer.

From what I've found so far, some hostess bars are super mellow (Outback, Double D's, Angry Birds) but most on 110 are party central. Granted I have gone with a few friends (5+ people) so YMMV

We normally start a game of pool called 'Kelly Pool', where everyone selects a token/number out of a hat, you don't tell people your number and when you sink a ball the person who's number it is takes a shot, winner gets to assign whoever they want a shot, rinse repeat as a warm-up. Gets fun when people start trying to protect their balls, or use this strat to 'Out' others. (Super easy to explain to everyone, trays of shots run around $1-$2 a shot if you buy 20+)

Red Fox for all of your greenery needs,
Spiderman bar for crazy cheap shots,

Maybe I just like the backpacker atmosphere, cheap beer, Cambodian vibe but its awesome.

Game sounds fun but not nowhere near as insane as buying a 9baht icecream from McDonalds, then returning to your hotel to post on a forum where everyone thinks your a nobend.

What's the biggest NLHE game in Phnom Penh? Last April, they only had $1/3NL at River King as the $5/10 game had turned into straight PLO. I would return in the future if the NL stakes are slightly bigger.

Last time I was there, some players smoked their cigarettes all the way to the filter. There were players leaving their cigarettes burning in their ashtrays for minutes before returning to them. I've since become a nit in this regard. No matter how much I like SEA, it's hardly worth playing low stakes poker if long-term lung damage is part of the deal. If there was 5/10NL+ it would be sort of tolerable.

Hi, I'm arriving in Phnom Penh from Thailand Dec 1st. Are there any recommended hotels preferably near River King or Nagaworld? Likely gonna stay a couple of weeks and maybe head over to Sihanoukville after. Location, safety and internet would be priorities. I assume all the hotels are fine with bringing in girls?

Also, I'm coming with a oneway flight, will i need to have an exit ticket when arriving?

I am arriving on 1st December also .

I was introduced to Long Live Hotel , they have special prices for 1 month stay ( Single Bedroom U$ 450 / Double Bedroom U$ 500 ) .

www.longlivehotel.com

According to the google maps , this hotel is well positioned near city centre , river king and naga world. Looks like is an safe area from what i heard on trip advisor and others booking sites , has good wifi also .

About girls , this is difficult to tell you , if you read most hotel policies , it's not allowed bring girls to your hotel room , no drugs , etc ...

Oneway flight , i am not sure .

But my advice is make sure to bring some cash or other financial proofs to show the customs you have enough cash to stay in the country and buy a return ticket back .

Red Fox for greenery needs? I don't think so...unless the situation has improved. What they have in stock literally had zero effect the one time I went there.

The biggest NL texas game in town is 1-2.

I also hate the smoking part, it is not worth playing live at places that allowed this.

There's a good reason why bars and casinos allow smoking. Degenerate gamblers and heavy drinkers like to smoke. If you ban smoking it's like banning fish.

Thanks for the response K7M79!

I sent Long Live an inquiry on whether they have free rooms and if they allow guests/charge joiner fees. Hopefully they actually respond to emails.

I never bought over the counter there, always was a dark french guy with decent/better greenery then on the street etc (For comparison im comparing it to Canadian/Australian weed quality)

I hate Cambodia sometimes. I booked a hotel in PP and immediately got an email from them asking if I need "pick up service". I replied saying yeah possibly thinking that it'd be a really cheap price or maybe even free as it's a hotel service (perhaps optimistic for SE Asia) and they replied back quoting over double the price that literally any tuk tuk would offer you at the airport - and that's without even bartering. They might have to come from the hotel to get me fair enough but how is it a service then when there are like hundreds of tuk tuk's offering a fraction of that price at the airport?

Anyone & everyone will rip you off for anything they can given half the chance, even hotels with very good ratings/reviews and you can see why if you hadn't got a clue how far it was or you were new to the area you are basically a goldmine for locals. Their attitude in thinking every foreigner is a millionaire is bizarre.

it takes about 60 seconds to walk through the car park and onto the street outside phnom penh airport. the tuk tuks will go for $5.
