I'm starting to develop an interesting routine. As I've mentioned in previous posts I moved back to Phnom Penh, but by the airport and about 50 minutes from the center of town. I come into town though once a week and will stay the night. I do this to hand deliver to a friend his weekly rakeback as he likes it in cash and it provides a good excuse for me to come into town and grab dinner with him. But that's not the interesting part, although he did get over $800 in rakeback this week. Renton said this past week for me was a personal best in terms of rakeback but I don't think I've ever come close to that. No, the interesting part is where I'll stay when in town as I'll usually spend the night. I used to stay at BKK1 but I've started to stay at the hotel of old Riverking. I have gone out on a few nights but most times I'll be in my hotel room all night playing online as I relish the opportunity to do that when my kids aren't around. I don't know, something weird about me staying here for the purposes of grinding poker while the room I used to work in sits empty downstairs. But hey it's only $20 a night and I know the entire staff.

Riverking Sports Bar Siem Reap is open.

There is a 1/2 game that runs everyday from 3pm. The game breaks between 10pm and 2am.

They ran a MTT with a $1K overlay the first week they were open and run the same guaranteed prize pool again soon.

They may try and parlay the next MTT into a 2-5 game the following day.

The rake is the same as RK PP - very reasonable by SEA standards :-)

888 can wire transfer but credits back your deposit to the initial methods you used

stars has 50k minimum withdrawal for cambodia transfer

skrill has massive conversion fees for usd transfers (usd -> euro -> usd), and also transfer failed last times i tried them (2 years ago?) while not refunding fees (claiming my bank rejected it, my bank said they had no record of it)

any other sites to try?

Got the same message to contact customer care. PP is completely out of Asia I believe.

On a positive note there's news of a Naga 3

Returning to PP in a couple of weeks for the first time in a while.

Is there anywhere else to play other than riverking or Naga ?

I see that riverking has changed locations than when I was in PP last. What’s the new location and can you drink alcohol there ?

Cheers guys

just curious here, i am guessing 4-5 years ago I was playing at a casino in PP (naga sounds familiar) that had quads. Villian was a white guy who clearly knew what he doing and assumed was an expat pro who may be active here.

it was pretty demoralizing, I'm probably not remembering it correctly but I recall I had KQs, flop comes JxTsAx, i cbet he check raises, I flat, turn Js and he checks I put in the rest and he snap calls and tables JJ and open ended straight flush draw bricks out

I would have had fairly long hair and a very thick beard at the time - if that was you holla at me, you put me on some monkey tilt that took me off the tables and into an epic bike ride that was quite the experience

Hello. I want to ask advice about Sihanoukville.

1)Where can I find a good room \ bungalow \ house with a good location (closer to the casino) with a good price \ quality

2)Which casinos can you recommend for the game 1 \ 2

3)What advice could you give me about offline in Sihanoukville?

Thanks

"I am sorry to give you the information only so late but we are closed for now. As soon as I have more information I will communicate at the moment as the management it’s out of our control"

Seems that Siem Reap Riverkings poker room has shut down for now.

Not surprising about siem reap. Don't know if a poker room can generate enough cash for all the various bribes needed to stay open.

LOL, How the **** do they open the room and spend all that money without having a clear idea of the bribe landscape? I can only imagine they've been bait and switched by some official.

i went there a few years ago, even the places that advertised poker on the back of pedicabs and online didn't actually run the games, bunch of empty rooms but the casinos themselves were pretty dead because it was offseason

they were ok with letting me card count at blackjack because the place was so dead and having me drinking beer and being friendly at the table was a lot more welcoming to people who'd otherwise poke their heads through the door, see it was empty and leave

would love someone else to confirm because i'd love to go back there again, great to stay at a bungalow for 5 bucks a night on the beach and just grind $1 blackjack at night, would be even more fun if poker actually spread

what i did when i got there was use a booking site that had a map and walk to places that were cheap and in locations that seemed to be good, was able to get it for far less in person than by booking online and then you avoid getting bait and switched which is really common

The city has changed completely since January 2018. I don't think there are any western businesses outside of otres and the islands (and last I heard Otres was next to be taken, don't know the current state of it)

Infrastructure is awful. Roads need to be completely redone, flooding is pretty common, trouble with electricity and water.

Only reason to go in my opinion would be for one of the live rooms, maybe someone else has more input on the current state of those

This.

I stayed in Otres Village the first couple of weeks of my recent stay and while it was nice it's clearly the next to go. Western businesses were literally disappearing in front of my eyes as more and more Chinese run shops were opening. And the ride in was rough everyday. I either take a tuk tuk or taxi that would cost me $7 to $10 each day or ride my rented moto behind construction trucks blowing debris in my face on roads that were nearly undrivable. And that was a 30 minute ride each way. I finally moved a bit closer near downtown for $20 per night but once it started to rain the flooding made the ride to the casino three times longer. Four of us went down there to play, three of us from Kampot originally then a friend from Phnom Penh. Most of us would agree that the poker was better there than Phnom Penh. I lasted the longest at about two months and my time was very profitable. And yet none of us are there anymore. Take that however you will.

1) Le Barang guesthouse is your best bet at this point but I wouldn't call it close to the casinos. There are plenty of bungalows for a low price in Otres but you're looking at a long and rough ride in everyday.

2) WM has a $1-$2, although it runs as $1-$1 sometimes. La Vogue has a $1-$2 game and also one at the Oriental Pearl. Nothing about these games is going to blow you away. You need to play at least $2-$5 in my opinion.

3) I assume you mean internet service providers? If so they have Opennet down there but it's ridiculously expensive.

If you look at it that way it's a miracle that Phnom Penh stays open. The required payments for the room wasn't the issue here as Siem Reap had a cheaper price tag than Phnom Penh, but really relatively the same. I left this project a while ago and if nothing else I feel bad for the staff, some of whom I hired, and people I know that had money invested. In retrospect I honestly don't know if my group could have made a difference. And while it may be easy for me to sit here and pick apart whatever might have gone wrong, I am actually glad I never got the chance to find out. I'm done with live poker for a while, both as a player and as an administrator/manager.

As I have previously posted, I live about an hour outside of town and I go in once per week to deliver one of our online players his rakeback in cash. It's a good chance, and my only one, to get a little time away from the family and degen it up a bit. On this last week's trip I went out with said player, BigBananas and another friend. Of course we ended up at Rose Bar, although we all said we wouldn't go there that night. I don't know why we even bother, resistance is futile. I don't take as many photos and videos when I go out like I used to but this night I did and got some good ones. Of course it had been so long that I forgot that my wife and I now share Google Photo accounts. Yeah, she pretty much saw them right away. So I had to scrub my accounts, move a few things around and was pretty much in the doghouse for a couple of days. But then we went to her favorite restaurant last night and all is well again. It's not like I count the days until I go into town every week, but we do have fun. I've changed my cloud storage account so time to start building up the collection again.

I have a 30' Dell monitor that is 10+ years old. It only has DVI cables, no Displayport/hdmi stuff.

Today i upgraded my Graphics card on PC, nice one costs like $800 but doesn't have DVI cable input...so I have had to order the adapter online as all of the PC stores around town don't sell it.

anyone in town can rent out any higher resolution monitor for 2 - 3 weeks? (27'+)

can pay rental fee, can give deposit i guess if you can get some soft vouch that you're not gonna run off with my $$.
