this is by far the most common form of crime in cambodia.......... what exactly does it have to do with a guy walking out of a casino with money in his pocket?

Possibly the stupidest thing you've ever written.

what a solid argument you just made

they love to pull quick easy drive by purse snatches on women......... thats not even remotely close to confronting a man leaving a casino and trying to take his wallet face to face

im not saying its safe to leave the casino with lots of cash on you there, im just saying your reason for why its not has absolutely nothing to do with what the guy asked

You don't see how the incidence of muggings and bag snatchings has anything to do with the guy's questions about walking out of the casino with lots of cash.

This is what you're going with today?

cambodia is dangerous and leaving a casino makes you extremely vulnerable if you have the equivalent 18 months salary for some people in your pocket.

you might go to the casino and get back to your hotel safe 99 times. only takes once. and most tourists have at least a foot and 50 pounds on a typical local, so they'll probably threaten you using a gun or stick a shiv in your side.

muggings yes (obviously)

but the bag snatchings are by far the most common and those probably arent done by someone who wants a confrontation, they are waiting for a chic to go to an ATM and rolling past afterwards (see ezyanos thread)

PP isn't safe at night. Guys are even robbed by tuk tuk drivers , or delivered to muggers. You would have to be very cautious leaving a casino with a lot of money at night.

I'm not sure if the article spiv linked to backs that up...

“Most of the crime is Khmer on Khmer with the majority of victims being local women losing phones, gold chains and bags after being pulled from their motorbikes. Unfortunately, this trend of targeting women also spills over into Khmer on Expat/Tourist crime with, once again, most of the victims being women…

“4) If you are female, be aware that you are more of a target to the hatched-faced local louts and be extra aware that the focus of the thieves will be the strap of any bag you are carrying. Unfortunately, a French expat woman was killed a couple of years ago after being pulled from a motorbike taxi at speed by the strap of her shoulder bag so if possible travel by tuk tuk and place your belongings under your feet and kicked into the space below your seat.”

I think crime is alot worse in PP, as for those worried about having something snatched while on a moto, hide it in front of you under your t-shirt or at least lookout for a guy with his whole face covered...

RF please dont make me hit you, i dont want to get kicked out lol, even if they see me pushing you away from a table i might be in trouble.....also i think for free beer + cigs + food you need to play somthing....

I always stay at #9 hotel, so am walking distance from Naga. Yet, I always watch my back coming out of ANY casinos (stories of people getting mugged and beat up happen in Vancouver, Canada as well). I also make sure to pay more than is warranted for the tuktuk during evenings/wee hours of the morning. That being said, I have not felt more threatened in Phnom Penh than I have in other foreign cities (or Canadian cities). And have been robbed quite a few times over the years, so this sentiment is not based on ignorance.

This is for those is for those who think we are pretty much robbing prostitutes, this was a facebook chat last night...

her:i want to eat your banana
me:what?

her:i am joking i like to eat banana
me:lop lop

her:you dont want me to eat your banana?
me:haha if you mean what i think then yes i do

her:haha
me:but i think you want money

her:haha you know the system
me:i come here to live not too have sex so i dont pay, i want the girl to want sex for fun not for money

her: ok no money ..just for you but you no say nobody ok?call me

me: ok i ring you soon, im busy tonight, maybe tomorow

her:in 2 days..i am busy
me: ok some day soon no problem we will speak on phone and facebook

her:do you have skype
me:yes, ******

her: ok i add you

so am i doing something wrong here? literally cant afford to pay $10-20 every time for sex...

edit: i always pay all expenses but i dont want to just give somebody money for sex, i want them to want to have sex with me or i dont want it with them...

I would be surprised if one person would be as tentative... usually happens in groups, for they like to lower the variance of the risk factor... and believe me, I share the same sentiment, I got arrested for punching out a dude in Vietnam after getting robbed, but if you spend enough time here (in SE Asia), travelling around and getting hammered, it will happen. But usually with certain factors working together : being alone, it is dark and you are drunk.

Ive been here 8 months, drunk for 6 of them....if you are nice they are nice, 1 person will never try rob you except snatch your bag on a moto ofc, so it will be a group but you will need to have done something bad to offend them....

only had 2 problems, first some guy tried to start a fight with me because i spoke with his girlfriend (didnt know at the time), once he realized where he was and had a look around that was the end of that and then was apologetic.

Other time some old guy was walking around jj's taking pics of girls, real ***** creep, i just had to tell him he cant do that and fk off...he resisted a lil, i got a lil aggressive and that was that....

Never had any problems with any khmers....and up until now ive gone out drinking alot, even at khmer places....

Nice, hope it stays that way for you... But I assume that when you say you have been "here" for 8 months, you mean Sihanoukville? It sure does help to get to know well your surroundings and to stay in the same place that is highly touristic, but stuff does happen frequently when you travel to different areas in SE Asia, and it is not because you offended a group of men, believe me. In places like Manila, if you wander drunk by yourself in certain areas, you will get robbed. In Nha Trang, if you are stumbling down the street by yourself, at 3am, a circle will form around you, the prey, and it is not because you insulted them. Stuff happens. Even if we think that we are cautious enough, capable to defend ourselves. Again, I hope you keep running good.
