Love the wolf shirt. Mooor close grip preacher curls.

tldr cliffs for above: This is NOT a bb forum, Thailand travel only please.

If the cops really wanted to frame you up and you're at some road block 1:30am in the dark, they could just say they found the drugs in your pocket and completely bypass the step of physically planting them there. I can see the benefit in politely and respectfully dropping the words "lawyer"and "embassy", but it just seems like a bad idea to me to refuse to let them search you or instigate them/arouse suspicion in anyway.

On a semi-related topic, I still haven't got around to getting my bike license. I have a valid B.C. drivers license so I'm going to go for the combo car/bike license process. I know my B.C. license will transfer over with just an eye and reflex test, but I still have to do the exam/road test for the bike + all the doctor note/immigration office stuff So of course I'm procrastinating. First time I rode along the moat I went right past a police stop. I noticed they were busy with two people already, so I think I got lucky. I heard also it might be tougher bribing over here in CM? I remember in Pattaya it was 400b and we were good to go.
Any tips/info on the licensing procedure and/or the likelihood of getting ticketed over here would be great.

Needs to be the unequal side.

look at places on suk 36 and 38 near thonglor BTS

how big is "large" 1 bedroom?

1 bedroom there's a lot of options, noble solo, taiping towers, the one condo soi 40, soi 38 plus condominium (not the unequal side but closer to BTS). some on this map http://www.thonglor-ekamai.com/map_thonglor_ekamai.html and this one http://www.kobayashi.co.th/Thaigo/su.../sukhumvit.htm
Noble Solo is like 20-30k for 1 bedrooms. I viewed a townhouse 2 days ago in soi 25. 4 Bedrooms, large living room, small area outside. Unfurnished, 25k.

Been pulled out of taxi and searched 5-6 times. I always just docilely cooperate and never had issues.

They don't ask to search your pockets - they just dive in there like it's a god given right. So you will be left batting their hand away and saying no no no

Not sure refusal of their requests is gonna be the best line - they will think you are guilty/antagonizing them regardless of how calmly you do it. And there is only a small difference between them planting something in your pocket and just holding something out in their hand and saying look what we found on you mister.

Anyone gone the 'don't touch anything on me' route?

From what I saw looking at thonglor condos they are all joke overpriced.

I got a 62sqm pad end of soi 11 for 22K in plush new building with squash court, snooker room etc. Pretty sure I would have been shown it for double that price in thonglor

Road stops in CM are wierd, think they mostly target locals for helmets. Ive driven through dozens of them with a helmet on, just waved through, wheras in other areas they still stop you and check license etc.. Somehow I got a 400b fine a few days ago (the ticket was written out to me, and they took MY license, couldn't pay on the spot, have to go to station) when my passenger wasn't wearing a helmet but I was. Seemed a bit weird but I've seen weirder things.

Yea there just there to rake in the dough off people not wearing helmets. About a week ago I was coming to the intersection at thae pae road and I saw the cops on the right side giving tickets so I knew they would be around the corner turning left also. I stopped and put my helmet on thinking I was slick then I cruise thru the intersection and the cop flags me down. Apparently it's illegal to turn left in a red light **** me 500 baht ticket

Well, both driver and passenger needs helmet.
If you were stopped driving a car in the West, and your front seat passenger wasnt wearing a seat belt, pretty sure the fine would be given to you, the driver, as well.

Even the breathalyzer roadstops around thapae gate mcdonalds in the night theyve let me just drive through a bunch of times.

Also when you actually do get pulled over for something it (in my limited sample size) ironically seems that the CM cops are easier to bribe than the Phuket cops

Not in my country, the passenger gets the fine unless the passenger is under 17 (I think thats the age), in which case its the drivers responsibility

Atleast in Sweden that's only if the passenger under 12 or 15.

Whats the limit of what you can drink and drive in Thailand? Or is that mostly depending on the police man that stop you?

Love their theoretical questions.

Q: If your feel drowsy, should you:
1: Pull over and rest a while
2: Drink coffee
3: Slow down
4: Take an amphetamin pill
yeah im interesred in this as well but was kind of hoping a desent bribe would get me an international liscence instead of doin test.

is the lisence international or just for thailand?

im happy enough bribing the police everytime but pretty sure not having lisence would void any insurance if had an accident

Looking for some bar recommendations for Chiang Mai. More Western-style bars (as long as they have a cool atmos) or more Thai spots (as long as not inundated with working girls) both welcome.

I guess it's Valentine's Day too, any specific recs based on this?

Much obliged.

Only good for Thailand. I would be terrified if a Thai license would ever be good for anywhere else, because the requirements are ridiculous.

An international license from your native country would be fine here though, but only for car (unless it was good for MC as well, obviously)

Your insurance is void for sure, with no valid license.

Furthermore, your address is printed on the license, so that is an extra proof of residence for pokersites, if needed.

Having lived in Ratchada for 4 years and Thonglor for 1, don't mind me some white peeps. Better conversation than how lunchtimes somtam was or how hot the weather is. Not to mention the slight fetish I have developed for the travelling white burds.

Now I am pretty over thai food I consider soi 11 a pro for food. If you like cheap thai food obv a con.

Taxis irrelevant when u can easily get to ploenchit-asok bts with bike on back sois. Taxis only pricks around bar closing time 2-3am anyway so no issue.

Love me some 'high class' whores. Personally quite like the soi 11 bars. I know plenty hate them.

Each to their own I guess. Myself I'm looking for condo value and transport options primarily. I mean Thonglor is like 2-3 bts stops ffs, hardly a huge fookin mission is it lol

(In saying all that I agree thonglor better location overall, but u ain't touching anything like my condo for 22K there)

anything after the bridge at on nut is the place to stay, no ripp offs.

Also got my visa today it says "enter before 13august 2013"

does this mean my first entry or does it mean my triple visa expires after August 13th? because if it means it expires on August 13th, there would be no reason for me to bother extending another 30days for 1.9k

Last edited by PeoplesElbow; 02-14-2013 at 08:29 AM. Reason: im a thai visa pro, but this has got me all twisted
