what passport are u holding? if u go to the border at aranyaprathet (or poipet), enter cambodia and return to thailand again u will likely be given only 2 weeks because the standard duration for land border entry is 2 weeks while the duration for airport entry is 1 month. alternatively u could get a long term visa.

I was wondering if I have any worries as a Canadian going there?
Do I need to apply for some sort of visa?
Can i tell the border guys that I'm going there to play poker?

A visa is not necessary, you will get 30 days when arriving.
however, with no visa and no ticket out of the country, there is a chance the airline company wont let you board the plane.
Definitely do not say anything about poker to immigration in Thailand.

Guess I'm just sketched out about them not letting me in cuz I'm not going to be there for less than 30 days and I have no way to prove that I'm leaving that quickly, cuz I'm not obv, and I don't know how likely it is that they'll just say "no, sorry, turn your ass around" after I fly all the way there.

Any clue if the whole taking a day trip to cambodia once a month to get your allotted time in thailand extended applies to Canadians also?

I've heard some airlines wont let you board if you havent got proof of a flight out of thailand or a pre applied for visa like the tourist one. If you just show up visa'less they'll give you visa exemption for 30days, it counts the day you arrive and the day you leave within that 30 and you dont need to tell them anything really, just that youre a tourist.

Or if you like to gamble tell them youre a poker player looking for hookers and ask them if they know a good place to buy ya ba

going to cambodia by land only extends the 30 days by 15 days, flying in gives 30. you might as well book a cheap flight now on airasia out to a neighbouring country for 30 days after you arrive. that solves the outward ticket problem

can repeat as many times as necessary, as long as you have blank pages in your passport. or you go to laos in a visa run van service e.g. http://www.thaivisaservice.com/, they get you a multiple entry tourist visa, which is 60 days extendable to 90, twice, with a border run by plane or land in the middle of the total 180 days

You can only stay for 30 days, for 2 months extension ull need to go Laos/Cambodia for visa runs, than 1 month extra in thai immigration.
