walking home 3am xmas night going down semi dark-isolated street group of philippinos in there 20s walking ahead of me 3 guys 2 girls usually try to avoid spots like this but since with girls i keep going, i pass them right before my hotel and here a lil pop and then a loud hissing i turn around and one of the guys is putting a knife back in his pocket after popping what i assume was just a random jeepneys tires, merry xmas jeepney driver

my hotel that i just paid a month fors internet was out for a full week, spent the last week getting what lil use i could of my smartbro (and it wasnt much) then going to the hotel next doors lobby where every worker that walked by would say hello sir thinking im staying there, was there 4 or 5 days, also had to spend a little time in an internet cafe but the bathrooms there were so disgusting i didnt go back and then at a restaurant where i would order food and hang out for a few hours

my xmas present is that the internet was back on when i woke up today (and i thought it would assuredly be off through the holidays)

I got some promo stick 1k (only one they had in Cebu City), should i change it to globe 4G stick? Is it better?
Prepaid is really limited, it is capped at 800mb per 24 hours, and they limit the ammount of connections you can recive.
If you get Postpaid there is no limitations.

A couple questions:

1. What's the easiest way to transfer money to the Philippines as an American without a bank account in the Philippines?

2. I have a Sony Xperia, what phone plan would you recommend?

Thanks!

western union is very easy and relatively cheap, think was $25ish for $2kish

that is cheaper than i could get from US bank to PI, or using moneygram or anything else i could find

i cant be the only one who HATES fireworks can i? they shot them off all night onxmas eve meaning no sleep for me

undoubtedly new years will be same same

anyone who needs ANYTHING in angeles should go to apo market, stuff is so cheap there i didnt even bargain though im sure you could, socks were 50 pesos for 3 pairs!!! i think i paid like 180 for 3 pairs in manila and was on life tilt for 3 days

I think it is hard to find anything that is more expensive than WU... but i quess it als get bit cheaper if you transfer ton and not to different currency(like dollar to peso)

You should have been here in Davao... Fireworks are banned here(i quess it is only place in Philippines to do so)... Though everything closed... But don't worry hookers still roam on the street... And it is apo market all over here

Yes it's exactly what you said. Across the bridge and you are in Angeles proper.

I'm thinking about heading over to the Philippines next year to try and see whale sharks.

Can anyone recommend any other nature/wildlife activities?

Just would like to inform you guys that one of the manager in Solaris is a huge scumbag that you shouldn't trust. He has stolen money from friends and has a really bad reputation in Asia. His name is Mike Kim, don't ever do any business with him.

Anybody offering you a fixed price will be ripping you off. If you have a Google map printout of where your hotel is, you will likely have no problems.

First time to Manila and don't want to get ripped off by any cabbies. Can you give a rough estimate of how many PHP it costs to go from the Airport to RW? Airport to Metro Club? and Airport to Solaire? Is it also relatively easy to just arrive in Manila and book a hotel depending on where I decide to play poker that day, or do you recommend having something booked in advance?

Thanks for the help!

Privately. He had a deal with one of his friend (ex-friend) and when he had to pay him, he just told him to go away and that he will never pay him.

RW is across the street (but you cant really access it via walking) from the airport. There is a free shuttle you can take to get there. It leaves every 15-30 minutes. Takes a minute.

Airport -> Solaire via airport taxi. My guess is 250-400 php. A regular taxi will be < 120 php.

If you're just planning to grind Solaire or RW, and stay at a hotel nearby, you don't need to book in advance. There will be plenty of options to choose from. Should probably book a hotel for the first day though, so when you land you could put your stuff down and check out some places.
