Hello, are going to post this in both Philippines thread and Thailand thread.
Im now in my final year in school and graduate next summer.

Im 18 years old as were speaking and I have some plans "Moving" abroad for a couple of months next autumn. Along with my I'm going to bring some friend which also are poker players.

We are right now just fooling around and talking about this half serious, but I am probably the one who is most serious about this.

I've been in a little more than 40 countries around the world so I have always had a thing for traveling. Now I wanna settle down for lets say 6 months with some friends somewhere in Asia and grind, have a really nice time and try and have all expenses paid by poker.

So here is some questions if anyone of you care to answer

1. What stakes should you play to be able to live there and have everything paid by poker. (Ofcourse I know that this will variate by person by person and how you wanna live etc.) But I mean, is it possible to live there playing NL100 and still live a pretty nice life there?

2. What is normal to spent on everything a month? (Including food, rent, day trips, etc etc etc)

3. Is there any big difference why you should choose either Philippines/Thailand. Probably that Thailand is more expensive, but is there any other pro's / con's for either country?

4. Where should you rent a house? Whats normal rent for a house for lets say, 4-5 people ?

5. How do you find the right people to rent a house? Travel to Thailand/Philippines and go to a hotel and check in for a couple of days and spend some days to search for a house?

Hmm, this is want I could think about 4.00 in the night, if you got anything else that might be interesting for me to find out, please don't hesitate to write this I'm looking to find a lot of info for this trip and try to plan this to the greatest
Yes, you can live, reasonably well in both of these countries at those stakes. Perhaps not outright baller but pretty good.

Despite this being the Philippines forum, I'd suggest Thailand.

I have lived in both.

In some ways the Philippines is better. They have better food and beer for example. But in many other ways Thailand is better. They are actually about the same, for cost of living, and Bangkok is a much more enjoyable city to live in than Manila IMO.

One thing, for sure, you will have to deal with in Manila, is more realistic and more abject poverty. Sure you will probably be living in Greenbelt or somewhere in Makati with all of the other foreigners, but if you ever venture outside of there, you will see some real poverty.

I'll just say this, when I was living on the streets of Bangkok, I thought I had seen poverty, when I was living on the streets of Manila, I KNEW I had seen poverty.

So, that's something you have to deal with.

Here's a question to ask yourself, are you a real and true degen? Do you just want sex, booze and gambling no matter what moral dilemmas it might cost you? if so, I suggest Manila, very strongly. If not, I suggest Bangkok. It seems strange to suggest Bangkok to someone that might consider themselves less degen and more moral, but when compared to Manila, it no longer seems strange at all.

Like I said, despite, this being the Philippines forum, I suggest Thailand.

Hey guys, I am staying in the Dubai at the moment but on NOV 14th heading to Philippines - Manila.

Want to stay in Philippines for 2-3 months and looking for some poker house to stay in. Boracay, Cebu area would be the best IMO based on initial research.

A little background on me:

I am European, before BLACK FRIDAY was playing 200NL HU Full time. After it decided that its about time to do something else with my life then play poker full time. So now I still play 1-2 hours per day + coaching my friends and switching to the Internet Marketing/Affiliate Marketing

Want to find a cool guys to hang out with in Phillippines who have similar interests: poker, internet marketing, girls , partying, gym, scuba diving, muay thai.

I like coaching other people so sometimes when i have time I can do free small/medium stakes HU coaching.

Have been in the Thailand 2 times so within this time planning to check other countries like: Vietnam, Indonesia, etc and also might go to Phuket for diving.

If you can relate to what I wrote write me and IM's so we can talk more about it

I was kind of drunk when I wrote my above post, so I might have rambled a bit.

This pretty much sums up my point though. Thailand is a bit more, 'user' friendly as it were.

I'd also say if you choose the Philippines you should have a decent amount of 'degen' in you, AND expect to have that 'degen' actually tested.

Third world poverty, and third world ****ty conditions will be considerably more apparent and in your face in the Philippines then they will in Thailand.

That being said, still many great things to see and experience, and many great times to be had, in both countries.

Nah jump in at the deep end and head for manila and the flips in general. Thailand is tooo easy and you will be drawn back there as soon as you go anywhere else. imo just sayin' and all that.

I'd say Sabang fits the bill quite nicely from what you are looking for. Its 3hrs from Manila by bus/boat It pretty much fits the bill for everything except the poker and the muay thai.

There is a pretty decent community of people in there mid 20's-30's who are here either teaching diving or learning how to teach. In terms of importance its kinda a town where pretty much any activity revolves around Beer, Girls, Diving.

I think I met Pooter at an ATM today! Very fat English bloke from Essex in his 30's who when pulling out a Thai bank card said if it didn't give him money then he wouldn't be able to get a whore tonight!!

My 18 year old bro and his friend visited me this Summer as there last leg on a round the world trip. They had an absolute blast and are now ruined for life. However the amount of rookie mistakes they would have made if I wasn't looking for them would have been astronomical.

Go to Thailand, learn what **** goes on then come to the Philippines.

Hey guys, I'm coming to Manila, then to Ceba. I want to ask, is it possible to get a fake medical certificate at any hospital or private medical centre. I need it to show this document to my employee, to have justified reason to be absent at work. This is the only way I can extend my holidays. I'm working in Europe and this should work. Have you any idea is it possible to do, how much its gonna cost? And in which location?
Appreciate any advice.

Cheeseburger stakes per hour. As a German-Filipino, I teach German myself but I dont really do it for the money. Compared to the usual salary in the Philippines I guess its still a lot though.

If you want to teach English in Asia, do it in China, Korea, or Japan. Then when you feel like you have enough just vacation in the Philippines.

I've taught in China, and it's not hard to make between 20USD and 30USD an hour there. In Philippines I heard a guy saying he was making 6usd an hour or something ****ty like that.

Philippines also has a lot more requirements and such, in China, have a white face and you are pretty much good. You'll need a bit more, but not much.

I'm also looking for people who currently work in call-centers (any staff Management CC-Agents etc) in Makati area, please PM me or just notify me here.

The rate depends also on what language it is, but what ITT said fits pretty much+-. I would assume that the tuition fee here in the PI is also a lot lower compared to china, japan, europe etc. As I said its cheeseburger stakes , if you play NL100+ profesionally and u r thinking of teaching in the PI for the money you might want to rethink it hehe. I was just bored, thats how i started
