Or run a 7 minute mile. I run ****ing marathons and I have to push it hard to hit that pace.

Sidetrack but is there a problem with this? All fat-loss diets will be ketogenic to some extent surely, that's what happens when you use fat for energy.

Ashamed to say that of those the run would be easiest for me by far. Confirmed DEL

Really?

I'd imagine anyone who can run 7 minute mile is fit/skinny enough that he can easily do half a million pullups even without any strenght training background.

I know I certainly could not do 3. I never could even in my running 'prime' in high school.

Of gym goers. Of the total population in the world I'd agree with you.

1 mile is way different than 26.2 of them. If you run marathons you'd better be able to run a single 7 minute mile in isolation.

FWIW I think I could hit all 3. The 7 minute mile is obv the hardest, but at that distance it's really just about me getting over the fact that it's going to suck ass and pushing myself. It's not like your body is going to give out after that distance, you just need to get over the mental suckitude of running. I also rocked sub 7 minute miles in our fitness tests in high school and I never ****ing ran, so I'm reasonably confident I can do it now when I'm in better shape.

Yesterday I saw the GHR machine being used to bend backwards and throw medicine balls against the wall trebuchet style, not more than 5ft. from the squat rack. WTF has crossfit done to people?

I feel like this is true in a lot of aspects of life. I work in finance and see this as well. Very smart people doing very dumb things with their money. "Oh sure, I have 4 million, I'll just invest 2 into my brother's friend's company that I know little about because it could turn into 12 million. This is a great idea!"

As a poker forum we have all probably seen this with poker as well. Lawyers, doctors, engineers. Obviously very smart people who think they are amazing poker players who are actual garbage.

Agreed. Someone in decent "gym shape" should be able to put together a 7min mile in a relatively short amount of time. 9mph is a 6:40 mile so as long as you stay around there you're fine. It's really not hard. Those that think it is haven't put in the effort to try sprinting every day for a week or two. It sucks and you'll hate it but you'll get better really fast. It always amazes me how much I improve at running once I start doing it again.

Put a 10 minute time restriction on doing all 3 and we have a challenge.

I tried to develop some kind of monthly challenge with stuff like this for the forum a while ago but didn't get enough interest. Seems to be a few more cardiotards around now who also lift a bit so the idea might be worth reviving?

WTF is this? I am a DYEL and would almost call this an LOL warmup. 3) is sub9mph, I think around 8.5. As others have said, you can condition yourself to hit a sub7mm quick.

Boys, it sounds like we have the entrance exam for the next Golden Locos. Can't enter unless you can pass the Triple DYEL Test. Start training now. loco, PM me for running tips. We will work on your endurance. May need to double your bread pudding intake.

I can easily hit a 7:00 mile in isolation but I'm a runtard. I'll bet the average gym goer couldn't do that without at least 1-2 months to prep.

Are pullups and BW bench actually fair tests? Seems to me like shorter people would have it quite a bit easier.
General Gym Observations Quote

Eh? I'd think the benefit would be at best minimal if not negative.

Lower bw is surely a pretty big advantage for pull-ups and bw bench (and all other lifts).

It is a rather silly combination of exercises

I think many more people will be able to do the 5x pullups before benching their own bodyweight

This. I've been able to do 8+ pullups for a while now, but my 5RM bench passing my bodyweight is something that's only happened since I recently lost 20lbs. As for the run, I could grind it out if I had about 2 weeks to prepare...if you sprung it on me today I'd probably be a puking mess about halfway through at that pace.

1x BW makes sense to do though cause 1.5x and most people wouldn't be able to do it. 1.1-1.4x just makes it sound awkward.

1x15 BW would be more fun, but might result in some a lot of tards getting pinned under the bar everyday.
