Sick.....

My gym's S&C area renovation will be completed the 29th. One of the trainers said there will be at least 3 power racks and 1 platform, hopefully this is true.

I guess they are looking for all the area athletes (both Pro and HS) to go back there to train. (This place is where Urlacher, Kreutz, Briggs, etc used to lift because they all live in Lake Forest, Il and this place is quite close) But the place got less athlete-friendly and started caring more about the middle-aged woman aspects of a health club and the Bears/Bulls who used to train there left.

who gives a **** what he does to burn calories? it's all the same, except that walking for an hour is boring. not that i'm supporting that type of training, but i'd rather play on a bosu ball than walk on a treadmill.

Meh I would think a serious fatty will burn a lot more calories doing long walks (especially if they are working up to faster and faster speeds), than doing random anaerobic stuff which I think is what the other poster was describing.

i dunno. the more i think about it, the more i like the one armed row on the ball. more stabilization for the core, which is going to be infinitely more beneficial for anyone that could be facing back issues. i'd have to imagine that the knees would also get slightly improved stability if he's in a slight squat position. the guy may have knee issues, which limits treadmill use.

the point is that they are two unique exercises and cannot be interchanged. personally, i don't want to estimate caloric expenditure just from the exercise. even if he would burn more calories on a treadmill, he could be having more fun with a more complex exercise.

i also seriously doubt we're looking at a big discrepancy in expenditure. it becomes such a moot point.

Hahaha. You should finish filling up the bottle and then start drinking straight from the fountain making really loud "OMNOMNOMMOMONOMOM" sounds. Pause, tell him how good it is, and then keep going for another 30 seconds or so.

no. i was not talking about the ball. i was talking about the one arm row. the ball is a sad addition.

edit: hope you didn't spend too much time looking for that pic. 8)

No, that's a bottle of vodka, an alcoholic drink.

This is a level:

if i had a bottle of water to fill and someone came up behind me i would just let them get a drink and then resume my water bottle filling.

yup. pretty lame to just stand there filling it up imo. get a bigger bottle so you don't have to go to the fountain or just drink from it.

lol you're both massive nits. filling up your bottle sometimes has to happen. sometimes when you're mid-fill, someone else comes up. stopping is too awkward, as most people are polite and just say "finish up". it takes like 5-10s, if that. 95% of the population is fine with this. the other 5% are your standard instant gratification me-me-me crowd with entitlement issues.

if you're both waiting in line, letting the non-bottle filler cut is pretty standard, but stopping mid-fill is dumb.

if you bring enough water, no, it doesn't have to happen. and if you stop filling the bottle and walk away, no one is going to say anything to you. don't turn around and say "go ahead" or something. i don't bring a water bottle (it's lame) and i've gotten off the fountain and gone to the back of the line.

There was a guy at work filling a water bottle at the fountain and as soon as I stopped behind him, with no dirty looks exchanged, he offered to let me drink first. I did, then thanked him and we both went on our merry ways. The world could do without ****ing pussies like us.

yeah miles i was gonna say the same thing. i like to drink a lot of water and sometimes while i'm drinking i'll just go to the back of the line just because i'd feel like a dick taking a huge drink while people are waiting.

Yeah if you have 30 seconds left to fill your bottle just let someone in to have a drink. Not a huge deal either way, but it's just courtesy to not monopolize the fountain for half a minute.

Lololol. Are you guys not taking more than 30 second rests at any time during the gym?

I think arguing about it is pretty inane but seriously I've never been like "ARE YOU GOING TO TAKE A FULL THIRTY SECONDS OUT OF MY GYM TIME TO FILL THAT UP?!?!?! RRRAWWARRRR"
General Gym Observations Quote

Oh if I get there at the same time as someone I'll definitely let them go first if I have to fill up my water bottle.

But ffs I was there already for a couple of seconds, and he has the god damn nerve to crowd me? eat a dick sir

But yeah it's so funny because all anyone is ever doing is waiting in the gym, yet they don't have the patience to wait 20-30 seconds at the water fountain.

****ing ******s at the gym... god I can't wait to own my own big ass house and put my own gym in it

I have a medium-ass apartment with smallish garage and have plenty of room for my gym. Very very worth it

true you really don't need much room for a rack/bench and possibly a dip/pullup station

There's a huge subjective difference between just killing time between sets and waiting behind someone at a water fountain when you are thirsty.

I didn't want to join the dogpile but clearly it is bad manners to take 30 seconds using the fountain ahead of someone who will probably need two seconds, and is probably sweaty and panting on top of that.

I mean seriously have you never had the situation reversed on you?

Maybe I just have a de-heightened sense of time. I'm sure it's happened to me lots of times but waiting 30 seconds for water didn't even register as minor annoyance. Anyway I'm done talking about it some people are just different in regards waiting/patience, etc.

And yeah If your really short on room you could probably just store your bench inside your squat rack, and my rack (power cage aksully) has a built in pull up bar.
