Restaurants close because of fog?

Or The Fog?

ahh, in that case I would have ate anything that was available as well. I stock up on jerky for my drunk munchies but often stray into the fridge for leftovers as well. Speaking of which, it is getting to be time to restock on some boxes of jerky with amazon.

I have an android phone that worked perfectly fine. At some point, the battery got to a point where it would get to 50% over a normal amount of time, then would crash to zero in the space of ten minutes. I replaced the battery, but it happened again (though the time it took to get to 50% was longer than with the old battery). Any ideas of things to look into?

I have a tech support question also. I've been using VyprVPN. It hasn't been working for the past 3 days now and I can't seem to fix it. I just get Error Code 807 every time I try to connect anywhere. I had this problem before but it only lasted a few hours. Any ideas on network settings and things I should be looking into?

Also I have windows 8 and I have no idea how to view or change any of said network setttings.

I'll get right on this.

Based on some of your work stories, this sound like a request you'd get frequently.

Aidan,

I'm not #povertyphone expert, but I suspect that your diagnostics are busto rather than you having two batteries that magically go from 50% to 0% or that your phone magically siphons the last half of your battery into BTC mining. Android has much moving part tho. Restore from backup? Reinstall OS? Get an infinitely superior iPhone? I dunno.

I'd just live with it as a known bug since it is just another reminder of how everything in this life is bad.

Aidan: Did you install any new apps? I'd start uninstalling the more recently added ones.

It's also possible that it's a charger problem, I had a charger which was charging my phone to "100%" but really it was just charging my phone to like 25% so it would appear that my battery was full but as soon as I unplugged it the life would plummet at 4x speed.

Installed Snapchat for a brief time on my phone. Absolutely CRUSHED the battery life. I could leave it on the charger over night and still have it barely charge. Uninstalled it, problem solved.

thremp venturing into the primetime LC thread, exciting implications!

Probably was already posting in here but w/e.

Thanks, bro's. It's been happening for quite a while and I don't think it correlates with an app installation. But if i can't figure it out i'll try a complete system wipe. Any tips for that?

Root (aka jailbreak) & install CyanogenMod
12-20-2015 , 06:43 PM
That's an option. I'll investigate the time required.

I'll second this. I don't personally love Cyanogenmod, but they're usually very stable.

If you're going this route, then don't be afraid to try other custom ROMs. Just check out xda for your device. You should be able to find what you're looking for.

Why is android better?

Why is apple better?

4 years ago there's a huge reason to get an iPhone, but these days they're roughly equivalent in smoothness and usability, except android let's you do things you should normally be able to do on any modern computing device... Switch out for a 3rd party keyboard, browser, launcher, place icons and widgets arbitrarily on your home screen, use a ****ing file browser, etc...

(this debate is gonna turn into a really fun time I can just tell...... )

ETA: Oh yea and furthermore (to some people this might even be #1 in importance) the open architecture nature allows any company to develop their own smartphone, allowing a diverse market for size, shape, functionality, etc of the hardware instead of getting 1 standardized cutsie little apple package. This can be crucial for some people (not me) when you consider the possibilities of external storage and removable batteries.

iPhones are super ****ing fast.

I don't use any of those things with my phone, but they seem reasonable for people who wanna use their phone in sort of laptop replacement capacity. I'd rather just open up a laptop instead.

Thanks tho. I didn't think about that use case.

Have you guys seen the wireless chargers from the future? They only work on android. Game set match.

I probably would've agreed with you a year or two ago... But I specifically used the word smoothness instead of fast in my previous post because I think that's more true to what iphones advantage were. But that's just because they elevate the graphics processing priority to mask underlying delays in loading times. I guarantee most high end androids will open and close apps faster.

This argument is probably a bit shaky 2 years ago, but android speed has been improving in leaps and bounds. I just got the nexus 6p and if by some ridiculousness the newest iPhone is faster/smoother than this, then it's negligible.
