The cigars are a pretty good selection, but are probably a little on the dry side.

Montecristo Original
Montecristo White
Montecristo '93 Club Cabinet
Montecristo Afrique
R&J Reserve Real
R&J Vintage
R&J Reserve Maduro
TTT Trinidad
H. Upmann 1844
Henry Clay
Cigars are all about personal taste, so smoke what you like... but the above cigars are not what I'd recommend to someone. Some suggestions:

Ashton VSG
Padrón 1964 Anniversary
Cuesta Rey Sungrown
Tatuaje

clearly youve never had a hand rolled cig, they can be quite tasty although not as complex as a nice cigar

has anyone gotten their hands on any Casa Magna's yet, no one here seems to be able to get them, the JR store said it would be a month+, im dying of curiosity.

The taste doesn't really matter, IMHO... it's the mentality. Cigars you have now and again to relax and enjoy yourself.

Cigarettes typically are smoked repeatedly on a daily basis by people who are addicted to the habit.

I have read that Casa Magna is the replacement for the Joya De Nicaragua Antano line. And I can say from experience, the Antano is awesome. It's pretty heavy though, make sure you eat.

Check out this google search

Man I got pwned on my last cigar buying venture.

I'm looking for my usual Rocky Patel 1992. Guy comes over looking near me and says "Hey man, check this box. There's really nice cigars in here that are discounted a lot. Some of them are really good." o ok tyvm. I pick one out of that box (they didn't have the 1992 anyways) go to the counter..Oh, its the guy that runs the place. I thought it was another customer giving a tip.

I get home, the cigar is brittle, cracked in a few places, and didn't smoke(?). I was like wow, pwned. But for some reason, I didn't check it out thoroughly for cracks and the like, I have no idea why.

This is my regular cigar too. Have you found a similar, more every-day smoke? I'd buy a box of something that was similar but closer to $3-4 a stick instead of $8-9.

Any recommendations?

I haven't. I haven't found any cigar that I like nearly as much as the vintage 92. And the cost is definitely a problem, but I don't smoke very regularly, about once a week during the summer months, and less regularly in the winter, so it's not that big of a deal for me.

The Padron line of cigars will have a similar flavor profile to the '92's. They should be less expensive as well. Check out the Padron Delicias, Londres or 2000.

Personally, I started smoking cigars last year during the time I worked security at the NY Water Taxi Beach. Graduated from the weak Backwoods and now experimenting with some medium to full-bodied cigars, especially ones to have a nice glass of whiskey with.

I brought a pack of small Cohibas which were great but hit me hard and then I realized that it has a high nicotine content. Do you have to just keep smoking them to get used to it, or have a god meal before you have a cigar like that.

P.S. Avo cigars suck IMO, and Monecristo White is the nuts.

Thanks for this. I'll pick one or two up today.

Why don't you just pick up the Patel 92 seconds?

This cigar didn't feel like I was smoking, it was like breathing sweet air. I haven't found anything else that was so mild. Unfortunately I've long since forgotten the name of the cigar, but I was hoping someone might be able to point me towards some suggestions for mild and sweet cigars available here in the states.
Oh man I am glad I'm not the only one. I am not a cigar smoker (1 or 2 a year... maybe) - It was at least 12 years ago I had what I believe was a bona fide Cuban and the "breathing sweet air" is a perfect description. It was succulent and sweet. Every now and then I dream (literally - in my sleep dream) about that Cuban from 12 years ago. Maybe it's psychological like hey here I am smokin' contraband. Being a cigar noob, I'll tell people "oh man, but CUBANS..." and they'll always say "yeah yeah there are better cigars...". Well if that's the case I have yet to find them.

Having finally read this entire thread, I went out today in search of Cusano 18 and Rocky Patel Vintage 1992. Struck out in both cases.

Instead I bought
Rocky Patel Edge (the lighter one)
CAO Gold
Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra Espresso
Onyx Reserve
Oliva something or other

tonight I tried the Rocky Patel Edge. Compared to the kindling I usually buy at golf courses it was pretty good but still can't help but think it has that burnt acrid "charry" taste you get sort of under the tongue - just like every other cigar I've smoked (besides that blessed cuban.) I had wanted to bbq while smoking it but wife didn't want to wait for me to get the grill ready. I went outside after dinner hoping to soak up the last of this amazing sun we're getting in the NW. I brought a glass of Bailey's on ice. I did get quite relaxed but only smoked about 1/3rd before putting it out.

I have a slab of pork spare ribs I'm going to smoke tomorrow. Should be firing up the chimney starter around 6 am... does a cigar go well in the AM and if so, which of the above?

fwiw, I almost always drink coffee when I smoke. The Vintage 92 goes perfectly with Hazlenut coffee iyam.

This morning I had coffee+irish cream and a Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra. I liked the Hoyo better than the Patel Edge from last night. Smoother, not as much acrid bitterness under the tongue.

Golfing today at 3 pm - probably will try a CAO Gold or Onyx Reserve.

I HAVE to be doing something wrong when it comes to butane lighters. Whenever I refill them they NEVER work very well. This is with pretty much every butane lighter I have, including a couple ones that weren't exactly cheap. Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong?

Here are the basic Steps:

1. Set the light to it's lowest setting
2. Completely empty the lighter by something on the filling nozzle.
3. Fill up the lighter with your butane tank
4. Let lighter sit for 2 hours to get back to room temperature.
5. Use lighter to burn ****.

Hey guys I'm looking to get a new humidor. Do you think that a glass top is any worse/better than a all wood one? I like the appearance of a glass top humidor but was wondering if functionality suffers from the form.

Thanks

Forgive me if someone has posted about these cigars before, but some of my favorites:

Oliva O Churchill for a daily smoke. Mild and the price is good.

Torano Silver Exodus Perfecto (Torpedo?)... probably my favorite smoke.

These are the Cigars I ordered today. How'd I do?

Rocky Patell sampler
http://www.cigarsinternational.com/p...AASST2&cat=106

These close outs (I often can't tell the difference between a good cigar and an average one, so as long as these aren't total swag I'll make sue of them)
http://www.cigarsinternational.com/p...048-SF&cat=145

Then I got three Mix bag offers where I got 23 Cigars for $35. The one sampler I have gotten before and it had some 5 Vega Gold, and some other names I recognized.

Order totals

$109.99, 68 cigars
20 Rocky Patells
25 Vieja Hacienda
23 Single Surprise Cigars.

Could I have done better?
