One of my best mates is at Queens, I'll tell him to check them out. He originally told me about General Fiasco another Belfast band who are linked in the sidebar on the videos. General Fiasco are another of my guilty pleasures (when am I just going to own up and admit my music taste is awful?)

Really excited about Band of Horses Friday night and then Muse Saturday night. Might even go see Passion Pit Sunday to make it a nice triple.

I am surprised more bands aren't trying to create interesting music videos, given the proliferation of youtube and social media. OK GO is successful because of their videos, despite not creating any really good music.

While none are making them on the level of OK Go (whose videos are far better than anyone else's work), a lot of bands make some pretty good videos. You can spend a lot of time in the video section of Stereogum finding interesting stuff.

A couple weeks ago there were 3 Black Keys songs played during Hung/Entourage.

I'm surprised wrt Pavement, I saw them in the spring and thought they were horrible. Stopped a song three times because one of the bass player's strings kept going out of tune. But your sentiment is pretty close to what I've been hearing about their performances in the last month.

Yeah, I saw them at pitchfork, and it was like night and day. After that show, my friends and I all agreed that it seemed like malkmus was only doing this as a favor to the rest of the band, and was totally mailing it in. Last night you could just see how much the band loved each other and enjoyed the appreciation they've been getting. Malkmus may have had the most awkward colbert interview ever, but he ****ing killed central park.

Though we're all heavily into the alternative rock/pop department here with a few hip hop/rap exceptions in between I dare to post a link to Steve Guess' new deep tech house set called "Herbst.Zeit.Los" which I immensely enjoyed listening to the last couple of days ...

Okay, it's... a lot to take in. I don't like the jerky-for-the-sake-of-being-jerky bleeps and tinny drum parts, but when the electronics lay back and settle for providing atmosphere, there's some great stuff on here.

And by "great stuff", I mean "Sufjan channeling Thom Yorke and singing 'I'm not ****in' around' over and over".

Sleigh Bells showing up in a Honda ad might very well beat the xx's record for quickest turnaround between "band nobody has heard of" to sellout. The xx's ad was cool as ****, though.

The xx are literally everywhere over here at the moment, they were on in the background of f*cking "Eastenders" the other day, Britain's biggest soap. They're in every TV show that wants to be "cool" as well and even doing backing stuff for golf coverage and football coverage.

Still can't complain as they are just immense and seem like real nice kids as well.

Okay, around the second or third listen, the previously-distracting simplistic electro-**** actually DID start to blend and fit with the songs. Somehow. It's weird in that I could easily imagine myself hating this album, but I'm loving it.

Only going to be able to see one of these. Which would you do:

1. Gorillaz and N.E.R.D. in Camden, NJ on Oct. 10

2. Tokyo Police Club and The New Pornographers in Baltimore, MD Oct. 16

Think I'm leaning toward TPC and TNP.

Haven't seen New Pornos live but I can't imagine them putting out a bad show.

I'm on my 3rd or 4th listen and I'm still not sure what to think. There is definitely some stuff here I like a lot (e.g Too Much, I Walked) but a lot that hasn't hit me yet or I haven't had time to digest. I'm sure eventually I'll end up loving it just because it's Sufjan.
