It's funny reading that opening paragraph because pretty much everything he went through is exactly what I'm going through right now. I'm from the same state and did a games design degree I now regret. I'm on the same NEIS program and we applied for the same funding. It's not uncommon at all though, the indie scene here is huge.

Yeah I agree with this. GOG's model isn't exactly a secret so I'm not sure why he was surprised. They're not going to make a special case for someone releasing a game that's had pretty much no attention.
The greenlight stuff was interesting but isn't really going to be relevant for very long when Steam becomes the app store for PC. Greenlight has been an absolute disaster since it launched in my opinion. Valve have done a lot of stupid **** lately.
