I have zero understanding of the current obsession with cheap, mediocre indie/retro/pixelated games that look like **** and inevitably have little replay value. ZOMG THIS RACER WITH 80S GRAPHICS IS THE BEST GAME EVARR. It's 2014, and this is what consumers are settling for?

It's cheaper for indie developers to make and cheaper for the consumer. Not everything made can be AAA or else there would only be a handful of releases each month. Wow, variety of options really sucks, no one is forcing you to play any of those. I'm guessing a new COD is coming out in a few months for you.

RPS used to be good, though I stopped reading once it became social justice warrior central. Same thing happened to Eurogamer, and Polygon has always been like that (as well as filled with a bunch of hacks and crappy reviewers). PC Gamer seems to be about it. There's a huge void to be filled and I'm sure there're lesser known sites out there that just need some publicity.

Gamastutra, gamesindustry.biz, escapist and destructoid are the sites I frequent. Occasionally I'll go to Eurogamer and RPS but agree with weevil that they've gone a bit downhill in recent times.

Sites like kotaku, IGN, gamespot and polygon etc are just pure trash though.

Lindy West, who is the worst, would easily be the coolest person at Kotaku staff party. She'd stand in a corner texting her friends and leave early because she had a thing. The weird thing is Gawker has some really good female writers at the main blog(Caity Weaver and Kelly Conaboy)
