the new game FTL (http://www.ftlgame.com/) which has been getting positive reviews was originally a kickstarter project.

For me, anything involving the notion of a Demiurge becomes high on my interest list and SAO doesn't disappoint in this regard. I thought the series suffered from bad writing in minor areas of plot advancement and dialog. I also wasn't particularly drawn to the hero but that's partially my disdain for the archetype of the reclusive "solo player".

But if you're talking about all food, well then hahaha. My only issue was your decision to reference "hardcore gamers" and then making your little comment. If you instead said: "Hey for a casual gamer with a PS3 don't you think it probably makes more sense to get a Wii than 360 if they want another console?" then the answer would be obviously yes. Like for the person who posted above about buying only 5 games a year - get your Madden, your CoD, 2 first party Nintendo games and an Ubisoft megatitle or two and you're basically already overloaded for each year.

But you specifically decided to state "hardcore gamer." For you to state that and then reference Halo and Gears and 360's exclusives is just goofy. Those are two of the most generic and casual games on the system. Not to say they're not fun in their own right, but I assume as a "hardcore gamer" you have at least slightly broader tastes in gaming than super casual - and that is where the PS360 have excelled this generation. While most of the games I listed are probably generally approachable by anybody, others are rather niche. A game like Culdcept Saga is something I suspect many people wouldn't get 2 hours into before returning it. It even has the rather less than auspicious honor of being one of the only 360 retail titles to ever launch for less than $59.99. However, if you're one of the people that gets into a collectable strategic card based game with luck interweaved then Culdcept Saga is one of the most engrossing games this generation. I certainly spent well over a 100 hours with it. Of course I don't necessarily expect you would, people have different tastes.

The point is that the 360 and PS3, I would assume the Wii as well, each have literally hundreds of exclusives at this point. The cool thing about it is that that means there's just about always going to be a game or 20 to fill even rather esoteric gaming tastes. I don't care what you buy but for ****s sake just don't reference "hardcore gaming" and then talk about Halo and Gears as the only things of worth when not trying to be ironic!
You're equating Wii games with Big Macs, which is wrong. When I say "hardcore gamer", I don't mean somebody who wants to play nothing but intense "serious" games all the time. I should use another term. Somebody who is interested in being a well-rounded gamer. More specifically, somebody interested in playing games as art, in experiencing a broad range of genres depending on what particular games have moved things forward or have unique experiences to offer. Like a movie buff interested in seeing all the great films.

From that standpoint the Wii has several can't-miss experiences, as well as a handful more that are more unique than most games on the 360. The Galaxies, the Zeldas (depending on who you talk to the recent one is amazing or is crap, but obviously there is something of merit there), and everything else I've already talked about. You presumably scoff at Wii Sports, but it's a hugely important and revolutionary game. If you think that the Halo and Gears games are generic (which they may well be; shooters are one of my gaming blind spots), then that hurts the 360's case even more against the Wii.

Pinocchio may appear to be a "Big Mac" kids' flick, but anybody who fancies themselves a film buff should be familiar with it. It's the same with the Wii. The greatness is there even if it's hidden in a casual package.

I didn't call Wii games Big Macs, I called the main stream wide appeal super-sellers Big Macs. The fact you now seem to be implying the list of games I offered is full of "intense serious games," as you put it, shows you don't have any idea about many (most?) of the titles on the list - ironically the very ones that fit the critieria you claim to be seeking as a 'well-rounded gamer'!

Imagine a person decided to declare themselves a film buff after seeing seemingly little more than Transformers 3 and The Dark Knight Rises and then further deciding to pontificate about how a 'true film buff' should watch the Avengers rather than Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I'm sure as somebody who does have a bit of knowledge in films the whole discussion would be somewhat tilting and incredibly ironic, perhaps even enough to push you into making a snarky comment or two. Hmmm, and here we are.

Been watching this guy's stream the past few days. I like him. He plays random games, he listens to the viewers, etc.

Right now, he is doing ARAM's, but playing drinking games with the viewers. League of Legends

He played XCOM:EU the other night, let the viewers have say of what he did or how he built the guys.

FTL was last night.

st walked through walmart and saw wii bundle console with remote plus nunchuk and super mario bros for 150. I know nothing about consoles but this seems like a deal of the century. Galaxy1 and twilight princess only 20. I am amazed. Seems like a slam dunk buy with another controller or two and multiplayer game. Is the wii u already out or something? Again disclaimer I know little about consoles and where they're at these days. Purpose is just for some casual AAA title single player use and friend multiplayer use

And want to make sure its still going to get the new releases in case I want to buy the fresh titles.

Yeah looks like November 18 store releases up here. But that's still a really solid deal imo. As long as the titles still come out for it.

Nintendo seems to have somehow coerced developers into stopping development for the DS shortly after the the 3DS hit. Based on the 3DS's initial lackluster sales it makes no sense that developers would suddenly go all 3DS of their own accord. I'm left to assume something similar will happen with the Wii to WiiU. That said I'm assuming you haven't had any consoles this generation so you already have enough of a queue to keep you gamed up until the next gen is $150 - incidentally something that's seeming it may come much sooner than later.

Yeah there aren't gonna be many games coming out for the Wii anymore, and definitely no AAA Nintendo titles, but if you've never played a Wii it's worth getting for $150 just for the Mario, Zelda and Metroid titles. I have never actually played Mario Bros. Wii but I'm sure it's decent. The galaxy games are fantastic though.

I don't think any of the new Wii consoles that are coming out are backwards compatible with the gamecube anymore.

Yeah this is true, he was on about getting an original Wii though.

I think Gamecube games will be added to the virtual console though.
