Nice choice with Donkey Kong returns. The difficulty really ramps up towards the end too, I was pleasantly surprised.

LOOOOOOL just got a free game...

Was watching some dude stream Faster Than Light ( new game, came out today I think ) and all of the sudden the dude opens his email without thinking. His confirmation email pops up with the unique link to download the game from the humble bundle store. Then the dude realized his mistaked and insta-cut the connection. Too late tho!

IONK, got the game too now

Yeah, just getting into World 4 and having a lot more deaths than I experienced in the few 3 worlds. Part of that may be due to trying to get the Kong letters on the first run through.

I don't know, to my recollection the Mega Man series didn't get REALLY popular until Mega Man 2, which wasn't released in 88.

Obsidian doing a kickstarter. Already funded but throw more money at them. In a nutshell: Isometric fantasy game made for the infinity engine.

I kind of want to stop reading it as Suikoden 2 is at 44. Which likely means 5 and 1 aren't on the list which is lolbad.

Argue all you want about the rankings, that list just makes me feel all fuzzy over the awesome RPG experiences I've had in the past 20 years.

Hi all, long time lurker first time poster (I think)

Anyway, this seemed like the best place to put this up.

I recently downloaded Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, 3 and Crash Team Racing on Playstation Network, and have as of yet not played the games (apart from one level of Crash 2 to see if the save feature would work properly, since I hadnt downloaded a game before)

Anyway, Im trying to set up a prop bet with friends as to how long it would take me to complete all of the games 100% (only the Adventure mode for CTR) in one sitting.

Setting a line at roughly 36hrs. I have played through the games many times as a kid, but not in the last 10 years or so for most of the games.

There is money on it so I do have incentive...

Thoughts on what the correct line would be?

100%? 36 hours? You using walkthrus and stuff, if not, not happening. If you're talking 100% completion of finding all of those hidden... I forget what they are, but they're a pain to get.

Trying out Final Fantasy IV for the first time thanks to IGN's list. Loved I and X so hopefully now is the time to play IV-VII.

Skip 5 its awful. 4 is a great game i can still remember pretty much the entire plot as well as all of the characters. Also has my favorite cid of all the final fantasies.

I would have played through all of the games about 6 times each at least as a kid, and remember all of the major secrets in each of the games, so thats not really the issue.

Looking at the net, for all the games the general estimate is that it will take 30-40hrs to complete for all except the absolute stud video players, so it should be fun.

Well, even knowing all of the secrets, you can die still. I'd expect at least 10 hours in each of the non-racing games. And, the racing games are hit and miss, I never played the bandicoot racing, but I did play Mario Kart on SNES. I know that I put in at least 20 hours alone trying to beat the 150CC ... Star Cup? The one with Rainbow Road as the last map - That game is downright cheap and cheater-y. I just think 36 hours is rough.

Hey I'm hoping you guys will help me out here with some simple information. I'm looking for good, popular multiplayer PC games that fit the following criteria: match based, ideally 1v1 but teams up to 5v5 ok. Games that do fit this well are generally RTS & sports franchises and games that don't fit are MMOs, co-ops like Diablo & L4D & generally most FPS (if there are FPS specifically small team vs team, or 1v1 oriented I'd love to know!). Something like Dota/HoN is inbetween where it's what I'm looking for but predominately 5v5. Other genres like puzzlers (eg tetris arena) or fighters work, but I don't know of any actual examples. I'm out of the loop, especially with sports franchises, so if you guys could help me get a bunch of titles here I'd appreciate it as I don't really know how to search for this criteria without looking at individual games.

Here are some I have so far to give you a further idea.
WC3/SC/C&C/AoE/Frozen Synapse.

I appreciate you guys rattling off any titles!

Honestly I would say get on steam and browse around.

@that_pope Finishing up Dark Souls (at the end just doing last minute stuff/mess around) and NHL 13 for online. Been going old school lately too and playing a bunch of Halo 3. If anyone still jumps on H3 hit me up and we can play. I can't hang with the Cod group but I'm decent'ish at Halo.

StarCraft II for a competitive RTS. Biggest competitive RTS in the world.
Counter Strike: GO for a competitive FPS.

Pretty sure those games are the top of the line as far as competitive games go.
If you want something different, Company of Heroes is pretty good, but you'll ave to fight against a ton of smurf accounts ( pros that get new CD-keys to stomp noobs ) when you first start. BF3 is really good, but I guess it doesn't fit your criterias.

If you want something TOTALLY different, you can try world of tanks,

If you want the full sports game action, you'll have to get a console and FIFA. The new league system makes you sweat every single game.

C&C games are pretty much dead. Red Alert 3 still has some games going ( at least my father is keeping the games up, with his 6wins 80losses world record ). The last great C&C game ( Generals ) dies recently.

If you want something TOTALLY different, you can try world of tanks, it has a competitive scene ( be prepared to spend moeny tho ) nad is free to play, so you can try at will.

Summing up: Buy StarCraft 2.

Thanks for the help so far, Ill look into those. I hadnt heard of world of tanks but it looks cool.

Is football managers multiplayer head to head, my team vs someone elses? I know it's simulated, but how do you actually compete?

Football manager doesn't really have head to head. It's more like you take this team in the league, i take this other and we play the league at the same time. This means 2 head2head games a season. You simulate the league, with normal interaction within the league. You compete just like you would in the real world, but ending up in a better position and getting more cups.
