Are you planning to SLI in the near future? If not, you will not need 750W with that build. 500W is approximately the minimum for one 970 so a quality 550W-650W PSU is good. That may save you some money for something else.

With rebate it was the same price as the 500-650 watt PSUs. Plus the lower watt PSUs generally aren't fully modular.

Anyway parts are all ordered and half of them are shipped already. Only change I made was to get DDR4-2400 ram instead of DDR4-2133 since it was only $5 more.

Titan Z at $1600 or 2 980ti's for $1300? For gaming/oculus and it'll be in a truck bouncing around.

I think dual 980's is stronger than 1 titan, but 1 titan is just cooler imo

Be careful with this. Sometimes a higher MHz isn't all it's cracked up to be when the latency difference is massive.

I ran dual 980s. They were sweet. Can't go wrong IMO.

Really want to buy a new monitor but dang for the first time in 15 years it seems monitor tech is changing at a furious pace. Bring on the 144 hz 4k curved oled variable refresh rate panels.

Titan is a single GPU, not 2 stuck on the same pcb running in SLI, correct? If so I vote titan.

Went from gtx 750ti to gtx 960, computer still locks up during games. Tested it by leaving WoW running in the background for a few hours. In Windows 10 I don't even get the blue screen, just a frozen game and a fully locked, non-responsive OS. Well, nearly fully locked. Can't use task manager to kill the process or control alt delete to reset.

Hey guys, this might be a dumb question because Im a noob when it comes to building computers, but Ive been thinking about building a small form factor PC for my entertainment center in my living room. I saw this console style case in the first link below that I really liked. They sell a bare bones chassis model that I was thinking about using and building up. Ive seen other similar cases I liked as well. The question I had was about overheating specifically in a small console style case like this. There is really no room for extra fans or cooling systems. It would just basically be the GPUs native fan and a good aftermarket CPU fan in that tightly packed case. If I did not overclock, would a 980TI and I7 for example run hot enough that this would be something you'd be overly concerned about here? The second link shows the inside of the case and component setup if that helps.

sent it off for RMA as it's under warranty. Just got it or another one back today. Not entirely sure how tell if it's a new one or if they did any work or if they tested it and sent it back.

Any thoughts?

checked the asus rma site and they don't really say anything at all.

I think he's spent enough time with rmaing his entire rig apparently, he's probably paranoid.

Serial number appears to match what I sent them, based on the invoice. Couldn't find it on the actual thing.

Already had an issue of not POSTing once from the few times I started and restart yesterday. Couldn't test it for very long with a game going because the game I was attempting to use was having connection issues.

I'm getting sick of mechanical keyboards. I go through about one a year, and every time it dies I end up switching back to my backup Microsoft Natural keyboard (~$10) that I've had for ten years. I held off splurging on a Das model keyboard last time but thinking about it now. Anyone have some recommendations for long lasting mechanical keyboards?

I've had a das for 5 years now. I've never had an issue. I recommend a das.

I've had a Razer Blackwidow for years now with zero issues. Has performed well.

also used a black widow for a little over a year with no issue

sold my desktop, the one i'd had so many problems with. For whatever reason, right after I listed it the thing stopped having issues. Left games running a lot just to see if it'd crash again but it didn't.

Oh well. Got right what I was considering/posted on here a while back.

Officially waiting for September or so to see what the GTX 10s in gaming laptops are like. If they don't look great, might go pre-built w/ water cooling or something fun.

I really enjoy my Logitech 710+ with the brown mechanical keys. I've been using it for 1.5 years and it doesn't feel like it's showing any signs of wear.
