nooooooooooooooooooo, i just learned how to make a bunch of cool stuff with the sticky pistons !

@David yes and it saves a LOT of time. i use diamonds for all tools and honestly if you are mining you are likely to find more diamonds then you use up.

My idea for when 1.9 comes out is to have 2 warps. One will be the 1.8 spawn at 0,0 and the other will be the "1.9 spawn" at 2000,2000 or whatever we pick. Thoughts?

Who is going to spend any time in our current area once the new features of 1.9 is available somewhere else and everyone hangs out where those things are available?

The current map has already been explored out to at least 3000-something, so we'll have to move further out than that for the new features to appear.

I don't really care though. I start over a lot in MC and don't get attached to stuff I've done, but I can certainly see how others who've put a ton of work into their creations want to keep them around.

All the same to me - I just don't think the current area will be of much use either way once 1.9 is out.

I don't have the full overview, but some of the stuff I've heard is villages with villagers(NPCs), strongholds with boss mobs, new biomes and a greatly improved nether.

I think villages (without villagers) should already be in 1.8, but I haven't seen any.

In addition there's stuff that doesn't require generating new territory such as a leveling system, usage of experience, a new armor system and such.

Fwiw people should not be exploring out to the 3k's atm. I don't think anybody is doing anything past 1k ish atm. We should keep it that way.

Does the server keep running (crops grow etc) while no one is online?

I've never made docks before so I'm probably going to make a set of docks near the portal that's by the spawn point just for fun (faster to/from my house but mostly just because ... why not?).

I've treed the hill above my tree farm, so it looks nice. Please to be leaving the trees alone unless you're building something amazing (remember there are trees below ground there too).

Not in the sense you're thinking - even if people are on the server, your crops won't grow if nobody's in the area of the crops. The game only bothers updating chunks (groups of blocks) that players are actually near - so, if nobody's on the server, the game is probably pretty much frozen.

Any idea how long afk before it cuts you off? Would there be negative effects on the server from farming in this way?

Edit: Canada3008 - if you have a worthy project (i.e. any project) I wouldn't mind helping out with it. Is that humungous wall yours?

Yeah Im building behind the big wall next to the giant ditch. I Just dont know what Im building yet

I think I'm going to work on making a canal between the two lakes, to connect (via docks) my tree farm to the portal. Should be an interesting project to learn, because just digging a trench doesn't seem to work... Might have to dig an elevated canal and a lift lock system to get across? I dunno but it should be neat.

Ok, Gypsie's bus stop is in!





Carts from town come from (1) and turn into (2), stopping at the sign/buttons; the buttons control an RS NOR latch which switches the track at (4) and also provides power to the rails, sending the traveler on their way. Carts coming from other stops to town come from (5) and bypass the station entirely, since the typical use of travel is going to be to and from town and not between individual stations (imo, and if there are exceptions you can just whack your minecart with your sword when you get to your desired station).

Hogan's station is currently nonfunctional and is bypassed ever since I unhooked the switch at the town portal, and I need to hook up another exchange at my station to continue the track on to JoshK's portal.

Feedback from track users is welcome, if you guys think this setup totally blows and would prefer something else (except for separate tracks going from town to each individual station, because that blows harder and involves zero creativity) let me know.

EDIT: Another implementation I thought of is to perhaps use a detector rail to send a "continue on the track" charge to the latch X seconds after arriving...actually, that's prob preferable, since it would be extremely rare for someone to arrive from (1) and hit the "town" button, the town button is only really there for when someone coming out of Gypsie's portal throws their cart down and gets ready to go...

Craftbukkit has a recommended build out which we're now running. Currently the site bukkit.org is down but as soon as I can access it I'll start to add some plugins. Server will likely be restarted quite a few times today. (generally you can just reconnect right away).
