1.9 is rumored to come out today - and now they're saying the 'adventure update' will be continued in 1.10...

Yeah I was looking at the waterslide vid and It's pretty awesome but I want something smaller scale. I flooded the canal and I expect it works now but it's ugly. Need a bridge and maybe some towers or something.

The choice to disable the /spawn command for beds is highly inconvenient and disagreeable. Unless you literally live next to the spawn I don't see how anyone could find this enjoyable, especially now mobs are on and dying will be more common. I spent way over 20 minutes just trying to get back to my home at 1k,70,-800 alive.

Then when I slept in my bed and died, I returned to the spawn about 1 mile away and a further 5-10 min journey.

agreed, i think turning TP and warps off is cool, but /spawn would be nice and save hassle.

Okay so for some reason our nether world was overwrote w/ an old nether world (not even from the 1.8 map) when I installed bukkit.

The backup that I created before installing bukkit for some reason doesn't seem to backup the nether. So as far as I can tell we're stuck with generating a new nether. Your portals should all still be fine. Unfortunately (mostly for gb) we'll have to redo the cart system.

I posted days ago and said in the message of the day that everybody ignored that if you were favorable/not favorable to any of the changes upcoming to post on 2p2. One of the main changes being no "home" command. Multiplayer servers generally have one spawn. If I allow you to have the spawn command and bed spawn, then you can just use it as a home command which I would rather not have.

Next off:

The max distance you should be traveling from spawn atm anyways is about ~1k to ~ -1k.

Take the spawn nether portal, divide the coordinates you want to travel to by 8. Go to those coordinates (divided by 8) in the nether and build a new portal. Now your new area is literally 30 seconds form spawn.

It just bugged me that you are not even trying other options before saying how bad everything is.


And finally:

Besides nether (which I'm sorry I don't know how to fix, and sucks I know personally I invested a lot of glass in my path) I believe everything is fine. Let me know what you guys like/don't like.

JJ your opinion is noted. You would like to be able to manually set your spawn point. Anybody else really want that?


We have /spawn. I'm just not allowing you to use /spawn like you could /home. If you want beds at your home creating a spawn you don't get /spawn.

You can have one or the other.

Let me see if I got all of this - we have /spawn to go to the "main" spawn and if you sleep in a bed that sets your spawn for when you die (but /spawn still goes to the original spawn) ?

If so, I'm fine with that.

Edit: I guess that's not how it works - I do think sleeping in beds should set your spawn and I'm fine with losing /spawn to get this.

If sleeping in your bed creates your spawn point then we simply remove the /spawn command.

Then we have no travel commands available. Otherwise I might as well just give you /home.

Imo, having the ability to set your spawn is much better than having a /spawn command that takes you to the original spawn. It's the 'normal' behavior for MC and with mobs on (not to mention those damn cave spiders) controlling where you wake up after death is pretty essential.

I am 100% okay with a system where you control your own respawn point. If people want to travel (far) away from the original town then I'm okay that it takes them time to travel back to 'base'.

You could always leave a bed at the current "/spawn" so that people can easily reset it if they want to live a town-based life.

Honestly, I think a clean world is the best way to go for each major patch. (e.g. 1.9). I expect most will disagree, but that's my $.02.

Endermen are going to be in the game, I'm just going to remove their mechanics. I thought I already did but seemingly not.

Can anybody confirm that they actually pick up a block? It is supposed to appear in their hand but not actually remove/place it.

Hm, didn't think 1.9 would come that fast. Pre-release is already out. It would be nice to have snow/ice biomes and such in the central 2k*2k area... but I guess it's not too far out to go.

Look guys you can have pre-releases (vanilla mc) or you can have plugins/mobs.

The bukkit platform was finally updated 7 hours ago for 1.8 which is the reason we have plugins etc now. They probably will not do a recommended build for a pre-release.

If we want to play the pre-release then we have to pretty much play it vanilla.

I would prefer to keep 1.8 until 1.9 is stable. It won't be long and I feel there is still lots of gameplay left in this world/1.8.

+1 to keeping 1.8: Lets wait to see what 1.9 adds and then you can decide if it's something you want to wipe the world for (or add a second spawn).

ps: I saw the Enderman with a block in his hands, but it attacked me before I saw what exactly it did with it.

In general, I vote we don't upgrade the server (for any updates) until bukkit supports the new update. (Though I liked the early upgrade to 1.8 since we were all just hanging around waiting for 1.8 instead of doing much on the old map anyway).

And yeah, jd, just build a portal to your **** in the nether, I'll add it to the minecart system if you give me some resources (enough to make tracks + redstone circuitry + protective glass tunnel) and you'll be able to get there from town in a jiffy.
