Unless you're a pretty good player, I wouldn't play 5CC at this point. The deck is very unforgiving to bad play. That's a common misconception with the deck. A few friends of mine that are veterans of several pro tours each have been struggling with the deck at ptqs. I'm a much inferior player to them, but I've been doing better at the ptqs with other decks.

Unless you got money to burn I wouldn't really build any new decks right now. With Lowryn block going out in a few weeks It just doesn't make sense. Unless you have all the key cards already of course.

I really wanted to build a Twinsantiy deck, but again key parts are rotating out, so I'm just waiting for Zendikar before I build anything.

yeah if you don't already have the stuff for it, the only way I'd pick it up now is if you are going to play some extended as well so the cards will still have value for you in the future. a lot of cards that are a good chunk of tix right now are going to stone plummet if they don't hold up in extended or are popular in a casual format, so you're going to lose a ton of equity when zendikar pops and t2 rotates.

that being said I think 5cc is fun as hell I played it twice in dailies yesterday and went 3-1 in each.

I would say to make sure you run a couple of path to exile, and that I have 4 infest in my sb b/c it's absurd in the modo metagame at the moment. IE: sygg and his merfolk.

Ya I'm basically taking a break until everything rotates for type2. I have most cards for all the alara block decks and have some of the m10 stuff so I'm just trying to hold off a bit until I know whats gonna be used when Zendikar comes out.

sucks a lot drafting m10. all of the cards suck. nothing is worth anything except for time warp/baneslayer. and it's base set so everything's boringggggggggggg

so I guess Zendikar is going to have a cycle of cards that players have been begging for for years in it, the first one that came to mind was enemy-color fetchlands which would be cool to have, but it might be more fun to have extended without fetches in it

I like the 2/1 vampire that landfalls back into play, if landfall is good enough some cards like teramorphic will become good lol

I've been nabbing some "land matters" cards for cheap, hoping theyll skyrocket in value.

Biggest on my list is Knight of the Reliquary, anyone else got good ideas?

i passed a behemoth which is why I kept righteousness instead of excom (it was actually played against me, but i had drudge out). I also can't get past excom being a sorc instead of an instant.

I have found myself disliking righteousness though, since it is usually pretty obvious when you are trying to bait someone.

I also wasn't sure about disentomb, but kept it in because of assassin

I really like Excommunicate, because it is phenomenal when you're marginally ahead. I understand why you'd play righteousness, but it seems like a SB choice, not a MD one.

cut wall of faith and righteousness for duress and exco. I don't always main duress but here it's much better because of your platinum angel (and royal). btw plat/cloak is insane I've drafted that combo in blue w/fabricate before I won that draft. but yeah w/plat and royal it's nice to have that duress to scoop a removal spell from their grip. and exco is much better than righteousness. even though it's a sorcery it deals with enchanted guys and time walks them a lot, it's always good. you have 15 dudes and the wall is kinda bleh, I'd just cut it.

Some pretty good cards spoiled so far. Will Merfolk be playable in Standard, or are most rotating out with Lowryn?

It doesn't appear that there will be too many Merfolk in the new set. If they are playable, I would expect the deck to work completely differently than current Merfolk decks.

I would just figure with Red pushing Goblins, White Soldiers and Black Vampires that Blue would really push Merfolk now, but I'm only recently returning to Magic so I'm probably wrong.

On another note, whats the point of this card?

If the spells were already played, how does it exile them? Is this only for like counter wars or something like that?

that card ass-rapes (if I can say that) storm, most famously mind's desire.

its good vs cascade too, specifically the enlisted into blast/bloodbraid bull****(which is great because it'd suck if the new standard was just bloodbraid decks)

I like the new lackey, but i mean I thought we were getting away from free ****(nothing good ever comes from it), then cascade comes and they are printing more ways to cheat **** in play

Does exile a spell mean counter it and exile it? I assume it does, but never seen that wording before.

Also, I think its sort of silly how a lot of the tourney staples in this set are mythic, specifically the new lackey and mindbreak trap. Neither of them seem to fit the description of mythic wizards laid out, shrug.

Is the new lackey going to be that good? He is definitely worse than the regular lackey, right? Being a turn slower just seems like a huge drawback, and it seems unlikely you are going to get full use out of the double ability trigger.

I'm just speculating off of the spoilers I've seen, that's all. I could easily be wrong. But I agree with Vampires and Goblins for sure. White will probably get all sorts of Kor guys including soldiers and clerics plus angels. I'd guess that blue gets some Merfolk and then a mixture of birds/sphinxes/other random stuff.

I mean, when he hits he'll be a beast, and if the opponent coughs the game is over, but he's the kind of card that always gets killed. people will make sure to have enough bolts and path's, and honestly even if he drops double siege-gang there's enough infest/fallout type stuff to keep that in check. so yeah the card is good and yeah it will be played but he's kept in check by the format I think.
