I got to know your brother a bit over the weekend. I was in the top 8 with him but I bombed out to some horrid draws with my very good top 8 deck. He's a pretty cool guy. BTW who won the ptq? We left after I lost.

Hey lads,

I only played MTGO for about a month or so back in August. Today I sold all of my cards and now have a couple hundred event tickets. I was wondering if you guys know of any trusted sites that I could sell these to quickly for Stars or Full Tilt money?

Thanks.

disfigure>punishing fire>skyfisher>tsunami IMO

Though punishing fire is a decent pick too... There is a good amount of life gain in this format, including the dual-lands.

The real answer is it doesn't matter because the guy ahead of you is picking that colour too.

Take the skyfisher because we gets allllll the white and I just force white every draft.

What is the starcity 10k? Is it a 10k for first tourney or something?

10k total prizes over two tournaments over the weekend. $5k for Standard on Saturday, then $5k for Legacy on Sunday. First in each is $2k. They're running a whole series of them next year, culminating in a single event with $10k first / $50k total.

Does Magic still not use entry fees in the prize pool because as a poker player that's too ******ed for me to ever support with actual monies?

They can't due to legal issues, sadly. That said, I played in a Legacy tournament yesterday with pretty sick overlay.

No way am I first picking Tsunami over Skyfisher in this format. I think Sphinx of Jwar is the only U card I would take P1P1 (outside of raredrafting), *maybe* roil elem. The only U draft decks that consistently give me problems are ones that play like 3 kraken hatchings then a sky ruin drake or 2 and wait till they draw whatever bomb made them pick blue in the first place.

Oh, at the aforementioned Legacy tournament, I ran the Conley Woods no handshake to my third round opponent. I played Engineered Explosives for 3 - blue/white/colorless - because my opponent had Counterbalance in play and CMC 3 is rare in the Bant Counterbalance deck while 2 is fairly common. He blind flips Rhox War Monk and goes "OH YEAH, BLINDED!" I roll my eyes and lose that game, then lose game 2 to Natural Order -> Progenitus. At no point does he even briefly apologize for the big rub-it-ins in game one, so he goes to shake my hand and I no sir him.

He makes a big deal about it, lol. Whatever. I don't even know you and I'm certainly not shaking the hand of some idiot who runs the big-rub-it-ins and doesn't even apologize once for it.

I lost 4 games to Progenitus that tournament. Fortunately I had 33% of the guy who won it with Dredge, so I got $100 after he sold his Mox Emerald.

I don't get all the hate for blue in this format. I like it more than white and tsunami is ridiculous.

This format is mostly about grizzly bears and games are usually decided by t5 or 6 at the latest by whoever can put the most pressure on. U just doesn't have enough bears. It's basically Tern, Raptor, and Eel on the early offense.

It's hard to draft a U deck with enough solid control to shut down a R, B or W aggro deck without some lucky draws.

hatchling gomazoa and sky ruin are all great defensive cards that come late because blue is pretty underdrafted. Raptor can get pretty insane too. Sure white has more bears, but it's bears are also among the weakest.

I agree with Nina. Hatchlings shut people down really well and it's very easy to get multiples. Then kill them with Eels/Raptors. Tsunami is sick, I think picking Skyfisher over it is crazy.
