Probably want to get used to the interface first, rebind things as you feel comfortable. Get used to how the shop works, and maybe check out some short guides on heroes that you like. Something that really new players waste a ton of time on is shopping for items. They don't know what items they want to buy, and they sit at the shop menu for minutes at a time. Dota is not a game where you have a minute to spare ever.

TF 2-0 iG after a couple of very poor drafts from iG. It's hard to imagine them winning with the kind of lineups they ran. In game 2 they had almost no counterpush vs a sylla push team, and didn't pick any direct counters like bane either. I actually thought iG did play quite well though.

Tongfu is very good. They recently openly challenge vici, rattlesnake and rising stars to matches for $$$ after some players from those teams apparently questioned why they were picked for the international. I think they've been having a fantastic run recently as well.

Would never have thought they could beat IG though.

I think 1/10 pub drows know what they are doing. God damn they suck so bad. Some dumbass went 1/12 today with a drow which had treads, poor man's shield and vanguard 40 mins into the game.

Vanguard is a decent item on Razor because he is squish and doesn't require damage early with tether. Pretty sure it's not even close to optimal on anyone else.

I feel like it's not terrible at all if you plan to build a Poor Man's Shield. Double agi slippers is a nice dmg boost early on.

There's really no point in most scenarios. You shouldn't be taking much right click harassment if you have 500+ range, and you shouldn't be getting hit by creeps either. I think the gold is better spent on pure stats.

this game is such a huge troll.

almost every game i play the other team has mech and/or pipe and we manage to go the entire game w/out one unless i run support. it doesn't even seem possible.

edit: after i typed that, play all random, and someone on my team gets meepo. we're losing 2-21 at the moment. fml.

i think you could stop that by just tp'ing 1 hero while your team saves for tp in case the other team is actually doing the tp-rosh.

also someone on TL forums suggested that if you smoke gank the extra bonus speed might get you there fast enough and even if they aren't roshing you have a chance at picking someone off for first blood. also even if you have to spend that 100-135 gold to stop it, dk's lineup is much stronger than alliance's so picking these heroes to begin with is a disadvantage. and you can't be sure that the lvl 1 rosh is enough of an advantage to offset it in your favor (not to mention they have to spend 675 gold on tp's). i mean this game pretty close right now and alliance also got first blood.

Forcing the Sentinel team to use a Smoke at the start is pretty unfair. The restock timer is way too long which makes it extremely valuable. Even making someone check with a single TP is stupid. They can easily just die if they go in alone. Really nice strat from Alliance but I think this fuels the debate of Scourge > Sent regarding Rosh even more. Overall that game was ridiculously good. I was kind of looking forward to see how Alliance would actually play in a more standard game vs DK, but I can't obviously can't be mad with how good that game turned out.

I think people are underestimating how much the level 1 Rosh gave alliance if they think having to spend gold on TP's mitigates a lot of that lead. You have to realize that the lead they gained basically kept growing to a point where they were getting rosh at a very high percent. I think they got 4 Rosh's in total that game pretty convincingly besides maybe one where there were a lot of buybacks. During the one fight where there were buybacks it also showed the Scourge > Sent advantage with the proximity to the pit.

yes, I was going to say that smoke counters it pretty well. And it's obvious when a team is going for a lvl 1 rosh, especially if they want to do it as fast as Alliance did, they would need an ursa pick.

I don't think the spoilers are necessary... otherwise the next few dozen posts in this thread will all be in spoiler tags.

I predicted a while back that if Alliance was going to beat one of the chinese teams, it would have to be DK. It was a great game though, which I feel was ruined by that pause. Long pauses shouldn't happen at lan events, definitely g1's fault.

its a trade though. you pick a not great lineup w/ an ursa to force 1 support to use 100 or 135 gold to check for the 5man tp-rosh. there's 2 scenarios that could happen:

1) say dk has the rubick tp mid and he sees the rosh attempt. then the rest of dk tp's mid and they can stop the roshan easily. if that happens dk is way ahead because alliance had to skill auras and edict. dk wins the tri vs tri and mid.

2. dk tp's rubick mid and alliance is not roshing. then rubick just runs away. remember there will be no one on alliance near rosh because they did not tp mid. then alliance plays the game with a 135 gold and no exp advantage instead of a 1100-1600 gold + a level advantage. the game was still close despite this huge advantage so i'd think dk would be in a very favorable position if they are even on levels and only 1 hero is short 135 gold.

This LGD vs iG game is absurd.

The problem with the whole early Rosh thing is that the strat would not work if they started as Sent (they wouldn't even try it). Alliance basically exploited the fact that they started as Scourge.

Saying that someone can just TP mid and scout and get away safely is debatable. (The distance from Sent T1 tower compared to scourge fountain isn't even that large of a difference) Nothing is stopping the Scourge team from baiting someone checking the rosh pit with disables actually skilled. If sent decides to smoke, scourge can actually smoke through the sent jungle and now trap them in a really bad spot.

Also if the team is roshing at level 1 and you do TP and scout it out. I am not even sure if Sent can TP in time and contest rosh in a favorable position. The timing that Rosh died in game one was extremely early.
