the thing with daggers is that you have to pick a levelling spec that can make use of them (backstabs, ambush, etc)
As Assassination or Sub you aren't doing optimal damage is you aren't attacking mobs from behind, so you end up expending a lot of your time trying to get behind mobs and such.

Combat with swords is a totally different ballgame; you hit harder and aren't positionally dependant. With increased parry chance, you can survive longer in multi-mob situations too. Also, you don't even need to stealth to get an advantage on mobs, i spent most of my time unstealthed just chain-pulling things while levelling.

That's really the style that I enjoyed with my warrior, I can see it being similar with my DK. Probably worth it to invest in the swords for it I suppose.

They can share the BoA chestpiece
If you just have one dagger, use sword mh dagger oh..?

Yeah, someone said that you wanted a really quick offhand weapon and that 2 BoA swords wasn't exactly optimal for this. So Sword MH and Dagger OH might work well. And it's not like it's going to be very hard to level if you don't have "optimal" gear. It's still BoA which is going to be better than basically anything else you're going to find level to level. Chainpulling mobs and being able to live while doing it is my main concern.

The biggest advantage I noticed for combat spec leveling is Blade Flurry. Inevitably you're going to be fighting more than 1 mob at a time while leveling, and having that makes killing so much easier. At lower levels as daggers, you can probably 1-2 shot mobs up until like level 30 with dual +15agi enchants, maybe even longer. And then it isn't much longer until you get Mutilate.

FWIW, for leveling, weapon specialization is really not that important. You should just use the best weapon that is available to you, regardless of weapon type. This applies to OH as well as MH weapons.

EDIT: Thanks for the input about the high pop servers. I'd most likely be moving a horde toon if I chose to do so.

However, I have tried some pvp before. And I end up wanting to claw my eyes out. When I get in to a BG and end up unable to move and all of a sudden have 12 debuffs then die within about 6 seconds, I realize why pvp just tilts the **** out of me. What's the ****ing point when you're not able to control your character and you just have to sit and watch while you're quickly hacked away.

EDIT: I don't want that to sound like too much QQ. What I'm really wanting is something a little less time-consuming than PvE. Battlegrounds are pretty fun in general. Arena is not, for me. The only thing that sucks is going from a pvp-noob that gets instantly owned on the battlefield to someone who knows what they're doing (or maybe the actual objective of the battleground, for that matter). I see that learning process being rough. As long as I spend > 50% of the time being in control of my character, I'll enjoy the challenge of learning. Time to start turning in triumph emblems for gladiator gear.
I play a mage and I primarily pvp. I would advise frost it wont seem to hit all that hard at first till you learn how to maximize your shatters. Arcane blows against rogues and forget about living against any hunter with a brain after blowing block. Also the control you have with frost is so powerful when you learn to use all the skills you have properly.

As far as gear is concernedI would say bg honor right now is fastest way to what you need. Get all the pvp welfare gear you can get. Gem spellpower/haste and go for 120-130 spellpen 6-8% hit you should be good if you choose to roll frost.

Good time to start pvp if you dont like arenas and you like bgs. Rated bgs are coming so I imagine that will be tons of fun.

@gimik. I haven't played 2s in a long time since I hate the bracket, but why not let the war trinket the first poly and then u bop the blind?

Also, PVE trinkets are by far the worst PVE gear in arenas and should be removed first. DBW and the rotface trinket are just insane. They should ban ALL pve gear from arenas and just create 1 extra set of pvp trinkets - maybe resi passive with AP/SP on use.

Yea I agree. Its such a disadvantage to those who are not in a hardcore raiding guild. DFO is so op its ridic. Nothing like running into a dragonslaying dk/warr with shadowmourne in the arena. Hopefully in cata all the pvp gear is the best for pvp.

If you guys could delete your accounts and never play WoW again in exchange for getting whatever your /played is added on as healthy years at the end of your lifespan, would you do it?

What a dumb question. Most old people don't die in peace so I would really not want to prolong the misery.

I already quit btw.

My guild has kind of fallen apart. We don't do 25 mans at all anymore. We just have a few 10 man ICC runs a week. I'm lucky if they coincide with my schedule. I haven't done a clean run of ICC in 2 weeks. Just brought in my mage to help dps once when they were stuck. I gave up on thinking about my warrior's set bonus and just bought the offset tanking gloves. So he now has the Frost badge gloves, belt, and cloak. I'm going to replace his Onyxian blood talisman with the Triumph badge glyph because it will be nice to have the extra dodge. I feel like I'm sinking a lot in to getting him to the point where he could tank a good bit of ICC 25, if he ever gets the opportunity.

Also, in looking at the set upgrades for tanks, a lot of them lose a bunch of defense rating, to the point where I would have to get to get back to 540. The two piece bonus is good for threat, but I think I can remedy any kind of threat problem by just getting non-set gear and doing more damage. He's unlikely going to get the set bonus as he just doesn't get enough frost badges (as a result of not going in to ICC every week).

Here's his armor if anyone's interested.

I dunno if pally gear is similar to warrior gear in the def aspect, but I can't manage to shed enough defense as it is on my tank. Was sitting at like 560 for the longest time until I got .. no wait, I'm still at 566. I just wanted to get these boots.

It's kind of sick that if I go from my current 245 chespiece to the 251 tier one, I lose a whopping 90 defense rating, putting me way under the cap. Not a viable upgrade, imo. Unfortunately, Pillars of Might are the same way. They're supposed to be BiS, but say I had the tier chespiece and the Pillars, I would be getting crit ALL the time.

The tier helm would shed a bit of defense rating. I need to shed like 50 defense rating, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to do it without going under the def cap.

My old guildie got a couple beta invites for Cataclysm and offered me one. I told him I'd pass on it because my accounts is inactive for now. If he gets more he's going to contact me.

Would anyone be interested in paying for something like this?

I wouldn't have the time to play but I could probably get a key or two from my friend.

From MMOchampion:

The public testing didn't start yet, any invitation you will receive is a SCAM TO STEAL YOUR ACCOUNT.

Unless your friend is married to a blizzard employee - in which case he wouldn't be giving away invites.
