Getting to level 60 doesn't really take much time, especially if you can still do recruit-a-friend.

Except I would need a friend to start that. CBA multiboxing all the way there, and the one mate that usually boosts me already boosted like 3 other chars of mine to 60 which I then stopped playing, so he understandably doesn't feel like it anymore.

But yeah, if I still want a warrior I will start a fresh one. Gnome or human best?

human for the rep bonus for sure.

leveling to 80 can be done in less than /played 7 days fairly comfortably with questhelper and/or a leveling guide. No need to drag your friend in again to boost you.

in other news, it seems like Monday raids always suck because it's

A) Monday
B) The hardest raid content

argh tilt etc.

Yes, you're working way too hard. When the game becomes a job it really is time to move on, you clearly don't enjoy your position and it sounds like your giving the position away would cause a lot of structural collapse

Spent all night wiping on Yogg. We're just not deep enough DPS wise. We had to bring some pretty fail DPS which hurts a ton in phase 2. Time to pick up the recruiting. Got a new ret pally and dps war this week though.

Damn, it's the exact same thing with us. We only had about 22 show up, so we brought around 3 "fail" DPS which does hurt a ton in between the phase 2 -> 3 transition.

Having raids go backwards in progression is really demoralizing

If you plan to PvP at all roll human, their racial pvp trinket is overpowered.
They essentially get a free trinket. While gnomes can escape snares, humans can escape any CC at all.

It is also useful during boss fight with fear and other things like that.
Rep bonus is just that, a bonus.

Dwarves got nerfed huge when stoneform was changed from an 8 sec immunity to a one time cleanse.

I dunno, think the humal racial took a huge hit in 3.1 with the new WG trinkets, and warriors are too easy too control.

PVE is so easy that a racial wont make the difference between a kill and a wipe so dont really care about that.

We were about 4 seconds too late last night for Hodir hard mode in 25-man, would have been one of the top north american guilds to get the achievement too. One of our best dps died on the attempt, and we probably should have stopped and wiped it right then, but we were doing such good dps we decided to push it. 160,000+ raid dps and it wasn't enough brutal

You have to complete hard mode on your first attempt. You can't wipe it down.

Once he destroys the rare cache during that raid lockout period, it's gone.

As an arcane mage, I was able to sustain about 12k DPS during our 6 minute kill. Our guild needs to get better about people staying in the starlight if we ever hope to do hard mode.

What was the overall strategy you guys used to come so close?

Spottswoode.

I checked out your guilds site today, since I'm in the market for a new guild lol. And damn, you guys look like a really awesome place to play. The fact that you only raid 2 nights a week and yet still get your **** done is incredibly appealing to me.

I may end up app'ing. =P.

I don't believe that's true.. He destroys the cache on every attempt right at the 3 minute mark. Ensidia spent an entire day working on it last week and they wiped after every bad attempt, when they finally got him in under 2 minutes, the attempt counted as the hard-mode kill.

Anyhow, the strategy that we used was the following:

Break out the NPCs immediately as the fight starts, focusing on the mages first. Everyone stood near the mages toasty fires and dpsed hodir to build up the singe stacks (it stops at 25 stacks). Then all of the dps did their best to find the moonkin's starwells and get in one. We had a few people in the raid that were designated at this point to stay near the toasty fires to help keep the singe stacks up (they're a huge component of the raid doing such high dps).
Anyone that got hit by the shaman's lightning charge called it out, and some of the dps would try to get near them to have it rub off on them (it gives you like 100% guaranteed crit or something).

Besides that, we popped heroism after the first flash freeze, and only had 3 healers. One of our priests went shadow after the other healers told us they could handle it with 3 of them. Everyone in the raid did their best to avoid taking the cave-in damage, as being throw from the fall damage significantly reduces personal dps.

Here's some logs from our attempts, from the attempt that we killed him, I can see that we had lots of room for improvements. The fight is so RNG, we might have spent an entire week in there trying to replicate the ideal conditions of singe stacks, moonkin buffs and the elemental shamans crit buff.

http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/kv0bOFKKN85YLShQ/

Only on one of the attempts did I push 9K dps

Hey thanks dude.. we're a pretty cool guild. Most of the guys in the guild have been around for a long time, we take our raid nights seriously, but prefer to only raid a few nights a week. Back in the days of aq40 and c'thun, the guild was alot more hardcore, raiding pretty much 7 days a week. Long before my time, they had world first Chromag kill as well as being really competitive on huhu, c'thun, etc.
Unfortunately, our raid group is pretty solid right now and we have backups always waiting to get in. You could go ahead and apply and might get in as a recruit, but i'd caution you that you'd probably spend a lot of time reading gchat and not getting in any raids. There are a lot of recruits in our guild who I have never seen in a raid at all, it's tough to get a chance when the same 25 players show up every tuesday/wednesday night.

Yeah, with only two raid nights you probably have more then enough people showing up for them.

I'll probably look elsewhere for now, and keep checking in to see if anything changes.

If so, I think I see a solution..

Did you use a frost resist tank along with your MT? 3 healers is really impressive, the aoe frost damage is intense.

Nope, just Teeps tanking it, and I don't believe that he uses frost resist, I don't ever inspect him though. (he took the sword i want, i basically hate him, lol)

Check out the log below however, it's insane how much healing our ret paladin did (thovar).. it's basically like having an extra healer.

http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/k...?s=9514&e=9714

523K healing, 14.5% of the overall healing, while doing almost 7kdps, pretty unreal.

93% from his judgement, am I reading that right?

So he didn't really 'do' that healing, he contributed to it 1/2 as much as the people hitting the boss..?

No need to get wrapped up in semantics here.. I was just helping to explain to jmark how we were able to do the fight with only 3 healers.
If we didn't have a ret paladin in the raid, we would have had to take another healer along and wouldn't have come anywhere near the 3 minute mark for this fight, that's all.

Damn 3 healers is quite a feat. Props.

Respecced one of my toons to a tank last night, crafted a ****load of boe blues and purples, enchanted and gemmed them, re-enchanted some other gear and various tank gear I'd picked up, and am now 0.2% from uncrittable. Have a few pieces left to replace still, but that's not bad for a night's work.

Figure I'll join a leveling guild in their 70s and re-run as man instances as the tank as possible, just to get experience. (Only seriously tanked like once in my life)
