I'm really intrigued on working on getting gladiator gear (s2 when it comes out), but I also want to be able to run Kara with my guild and any other PvP thing.
There are a lot of people who switch gear for PvP and PvE, since the +stats you want are usually slightly different for both. I'll use mages as an example since that's what I played. For PvE, +spell hit, +spell dmg, +spell crit are all important, with +int coming in after. Whereas in PvP, +spell dmg, +health, and +resilience are more important.
Though, for some classes, I found it's actually better to grind BGs for gear than to grind heroics, because the S1 gear is about the same or even better than the blues you can get from heroics. For mages, I think they're pretty close with PvP gear having less mana, but more life/resilience. For locks though, I think the S1 gear is better. This is especially true for aff locks whose main stats are +spell dmg and +health (which PvP gear is heavy on), since health ~ mana due to life tap.
So one way to gear up for Kara is to grind BGs, and then once you start getting Kara epics you switch those on for PvE.
