my friend told me he trims and curls his eyelashes because long eyelashes look feminine. tbh, i've only plucked my eyebrows from time to time and have never really paid attention to eyelashes. since hearing of this i've started paying attention to this detail and have noticed a wide range of styles and lengths on both men and women. my eye lashes are above average length (i think) relative to the people I sampled today at the mall - no ho.mo.

no, don't touch your eye lashes or curl them or whatever, not necessary.
12-30-2012 , 11:37 PM
I have never heard of anyone trimming their eyelashes. They have a set length which is going to be different for everyone so in theory I can imagine it might be possible to be a freak of nature where you need to do this. It would be extremely rare so even if someone does it you shouldn't. My understanding is that they grow at such a slow pace that if you did it would be once a year or two at the most.

Eyebrows yes -- eyelashes no.

I have an ethics question.

I'm planning on recording class lectures with a hand held digital recorder, that way I can go back over the lectures later. I imagine it's inevitable that someone will ask me for a copy of the lecture, is it ethical to charge money for copies? Say, five bucks or something like that?
01-07-2013 , 07:28 AM
There is nothing unethical about it although it is very nitty and not something you should do. Think of it this way at best your financial gain is $20 and you come off as a total douche so it isn't worth it.

My school had a business that did this. They paid people who were good at taking notes $10/hr of lecture for their notes then sold the notes to other students for something like $80-150/semester.

if your class/program has a facebook page just upload all the lectures. some guy made an amazing set of notes for a class i was in and he uploaded them to facebook and he became a legend overnight, and people were asking him for his paypal so they could donate money.

when i see people upload notes/answers i think "now there's a cool guy", when i see people selling their notes two days before the exam i just think you're a jackass.

this is explicitly stated as illegal in my school. If the Prof doesn't consent to it then you aren't allowed to record and then sell. Of course, you can obv just ask Prof and he can agree/disagree or record for personal use without asking if you want. But selling it is 100% illegal but w/e fwiw canada

re; whether ethical, i personally wouldn't go through the effort for 5 dollars. If it's a close friend I'd just give for free and not charge

I have a question on books.

If your class requires a certain book that is new, if you get an older edition of that title is that alright, or are you possibly ****ing yourself somehow?

God damn college books are expensive.

Well first off, make sure you need the book. All classes require books, but you dont always need them. I usually wait until a week into the class to make the decision.

In regards to old editions, you should be fine in terms of material, but some problems might have changed, but more than likely you will be fine.

You might be able to find what changed between editions online.
01-09-2013 , 09:31 AM
i never bought the book until i was assigned problems out of it

buy the old edition off amazon, if there's content missing that you need to look at go to the library and check out the newest edition.
01-09-2013 , 11:41 PM
The only times that you need the newest version is if it's for a class like physics or accounting where you will be doing problems out of the book. As mentioned above, make sure you actually need the book for the class though.
