I really wish someone could give me a valid explanation as to why people that purchase tickets in advance get blinded off but not if you show up late and buy in. I don't think players should ever be blinded off but if you are blinding some players off, why punish a group that benefits you a lot.

They just posted this on the blog so pretty sure it's 11 like is said everywhere else:

Here’s the story on the FOUR Day Ones, which are part of Event 1, the $1 million guaranteed WSOP Circuit opener.

All Day Ones start promptly at 11 am.

Players play for 21 full levels, which ends about 1:15 am (each night).

Players that survive will all combine into a single field, to be played on Sunday. That re-start will also be at 11 am. The final table will be played on Monday. That re-start is scheduled for 1 pm.

Players may register each day up until about 1:15 pm (up until end of the first break). Players may always register for the following day. But registration will close on session 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D at 1:15 pm.

The total prize pool will not be known until Friday. The prize pool is guaranteed to be at least $1,000,000.

Online you can register 24/7 up to 1 hour until the tournament starts. My cousin 's plane was late from Chicago and he registered online from his iPad while in O'hara airport waiting for his connecting flight

Do you think a card room should have dead stacks sitting at tables being blinded off in the off chance someone will show up late and buy a ticket?

Seems like a better policy to just not blind off any players

They have to let the blinds go around the table

Start dealing when 5-6 players check in seems way better

If anything, it causes players to be in less of a hurry and/or get more sleep. If they show up later it's much more likely a tournament player will stay and play cash games after the fact too which is the ultimate goal of big mtts

how about we fill up table 1 then fill up table 2 and so on until we get to 75 tables or whatever. what was so hard about that. i guess these are the kind of things an IQ is used for.

seems pretty standard that any tickets bought before the event starts are put in play when the tournament starts.

borgata did it like this, cant think of a place that does it any differently besides the isle for that 1 main where they had your stacks on the table being blinded off but they manually replenished them when you get there to full stack but that was really weird and had never seen that before

I'm not saying its not standard. I just would like people to use an open mind and try to figure out why you should penalize someone that buys in advance vs someone that shows up last minute

Yeah tickets bought, stack is in play. Seems reasonable, no? What's not reasonable is late regging and getting a stack that's been blinding off like at isle. Never understood chips not paid for being in play

Edit: not directed at u mike, i know it's not ur rule. And that 1 main was very weird, it's like they agreed they were doing it wrong but picked incorrect solution

because the tournament has to start when it starts... cant just have a 10 handed tourney have some tables playing 6 handed or 4 handed or hu for X amount of hours while others play 10 handed.

definitely agree that late registered players should receive full stacks but it just doesn't seem reasonable to register early to benefit yourself for a discounted ticket price or a softer table draw and not have your stack be in play.

I am open minded to any ideas. I think this community as a group can collectively solve this problem.

Pay early, get blinded off? Reg late and start with a full stack? Not sure this is the best way to go.

Mike what would you suggest? I think the property to our south procedure is not optimal either. The Borgota? That sounds like a good way to have tournament chip security issues.

Anyhow, how did you fare in the event yesterday?

Take care,

What I've seen and felt works best is all 10 stacks are placed out at the start of the tournament. These stacks are dealt to, folded and blinded off. As late arrivals show up, or late entries buy in, they are buying a stack that has been blinded off. Everyone is on the same level here. If you show up on time, you have your full stack, if you come late, whether you pre-regged or not, you have the same blinded off stack.

In the case where a new entry arrives that buys a seat which no longer has a stack from a knocked out player, they are given a starting stack with a certain amount of blinds removed for every level. It's usually pretty minimal to the entire stack and happens more in the case of late arriving alternates in a sold out event.

Once the entry period is over, any dead stacks are just picked up.

There's also the case of same day re-entry tournaments, these players would get a full stack with a new seat assignment.

See you guys in 2 hours

I think this may make players more reluctant to play if they are going to be late.

Would hate to reduce fields.

Thoughts?

Final Entrants for the $1 mil event?

I would like to hear predictions for the event. Here is information you may want to digest first:

There were 600 entrants day 1.

There are 900 more signed up for B,C, and D.

Will Friday and Saturday cap at 750 + alts? We will allow about 100 alts.

Closest to final count will get a WSOP gift from PBKC.

Good luck!!
