I made day 2 in 4/5 of the day 1's I played in the same tournament in Chicago. I like my chances of making it. It's an unlimited reentry.... not that hard to cash.

I'd be more than happy to make a sizeable bet with you that I beat this tournament for much more than a MCD's hourly for the time I spend playing. PM me and we can discuss, I'm sure we could find one of the room/2+2 regs to escrow. Tom?
id take the under against anyone. but i dont really bet people i don't know.

think what you want you are not that good and an above average player will only cash one out of 7 and if you only cash once you will lose.

rake way too high on this tourney without any money added.

I'm not sure they realize you get 2k just for making it to day 2 on more than 1 entry.

This discussion is turning into an Allen Kessler NVG thread... please stop.

Stevesmith1980, go onto the Horseshoe Cincinnati website, poker, and there is a large PDF file to download with structure sheets and payouts for the tournaments.

Im well aware you get 2k, and it is still basically unbeatable. I totally get whey rec players are excited for it, but if you are going there to make money the the main event is the only thing worth entering except maybe the stimulus because the 18 free seats wipes out a lot of the rake. But whatever, I'll leave it alone now, I just wish people wouldnt play terrible tournaments so that they would maybe run better ones

Cashing 2/6 events is not that easy even if you are just trying to min cash. Id bet alot against anyone trying to profit at even money. Not really going to bet with random interneters though.

I'm with you on betting with random people, that's why I said we can get one of the Shoe regs/ 2+2 regs to escrow.

For any good MTTer it's certainly possible to beat this tournament for more than MCD's hourly and it isn't all that hard to do.

What are we basing it off of? $7.25 an hour? PM me if you'd like. Happy to set up details.

Any who........

What do you guys think the attendance will be like for both the $260 and the main?

My take on the rake is this...

1) This isn't the Sunday Million.. meaning, this tournament isn't run weekly. It's a once a year type of thing for this area.

2) It's designed to draw-in recreational players - $260 is a good price point for a recreational player to show up and fire multiple bullets. Isn't that like a wet dream for a pro? Do you see recreational players lining up to fire multiple $1,000+$60 bullets?

3) You still show up - At ChiClassic, I heard the same thing.. Rake Rake Rake.. Yet it drew 5,000+ entrants. Alright guys, if $10-$30+ per tournament entry is too much additional rake, how do you justify people who spend cash on gas, hotels and food just to play poker for a couple days? According to the payout structure, 90% of those players are setting their money on fire anyways regardless of their skill level. Couldn't that be considered part of the overhead as well as the rake?

What I don't understand is why people take the "I'm gonna grind this like a SNG" approach. That's not what this is. This is just once a year tourney. These tournies aren't designed for people to make a steady paycheck, they are designed for someone to run like God and pocket $100,000 real quick.

Didn't mean to derail the thread. I agree that the rake is too d*mn high. I'm not defending it. I'm just asking why people will say.. "This will draw in a bunch of recreational players" and in the same sentence say, "People shouldn't show up to the events because of the huge rake." Perhaps I'm a gigantic fish but what's an extra $10-$30 more (of what I think the rake should be) to play against recreational players who are concerned about texting their wife, checking basketball scores or who are just looking for a reason to get out of the house? If this field was all professionals and the potential edge was razor thin.. Again, you'd have a point.

Where else do you get thousands of recreational players to put in $260 bullets which allow you to play for 100k? If this tournament ran weekly, you'd have a point. There's overhead that will occur whenever you show up somewhere to play a poker tournament. Lets be honest, most players who show up to this tournament will spend a lot more than $10-$30 before they even park their car at the Horseshoe.

Just my 2 cents, I could be totally wrong.

^^^ Great post and spot on. That was kind of my point too, you just put it better. For a full time "professional"(or semi-professional) player this kind of tournament is great even with outrageous rake. The number of recs playing this + the extra $2K just for making a subsequent day 2 is pretty awesome.

How many levels will they play on day 1 of the first event? It seem from the structure sheet that they will stop when 10% of the field is reached. Am I correct?

There isn't a set level, it's 10% of the field like you said. For day 2 they will use the lowest level of the days to start from.

What exactly does this mean?

"Players opting out of the dealer toke will have a starting stack of only 100 tournament"

Does this mean you have to tip the dealers before the tournament? Sorry, I don't play much live poker.

Thanks

It's a forced optional dealer toke. Buy in for $245 and get 100 chips or buy in for the full $260 and get 10,000 chips. It's optional, but who really wouldn't pay the full $260?

When will they pay the 2k bonus for making more than one day 2 of the first event? Do they wait till all day one flights are complete?

Basing this off of how last years CPC went (similar structure) They will pay out the $2k bonus at the end of EACH Day 1 to all of those that qualify

I'm from Dayton which is like a 30m drive so I won't be staying in the hotel (note the casino doesn't have it's own hotel but has some partnership with a local hotel or something) but I'll be able to update you all on everything else.

GL to all playing
