Dominic -

You're being sent to the backwoods of the backwoods of Siberia, never to return to any sort of civilization (and music stores) again. You are allowed to bring ONE PJ Harvey album with you...which do you pick?

Can't stop listening to this song. So good. Nothing like listening to this one outside on a perfect day.

Since I Left You - The Avalances

And this one is genius IMO, although a very weird song. Reminds me of pre-DSOTM Pink Floyd.

After all the PJ Harvey talk I decided it was worth giving a try. Worth it, indeed. I was hooked right away.

I'm also a Josh Homme fanboy, so I should probably check out the Desert Sessions too. I love Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal.

I know I'm late to the party, but I finally got around to listening to The XX and have had it on repeat for the last two weeks.

In between this I've been going through all of Pink Floyd.

i like them, i guess id say yes, but not really sure what youre into so its hard to say.

from wiki

The Desert Sessions began in August 1997 at the Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree when Homme brought together musicians from the bands Monster Magnet, Goatsnake, earthlings?, Kyuss (his own band, which had split in 1995) and Soundgarden. The ranch is an old house filled to the brim with rare and unique recording equipment and instruments and was owned by Dave Catching and the late Fred Drake. Songs are written "on the spot", and in matters of hours. Many stories have grown around the Sessions. For example, the song "Creosote" from Volumes 9 & 10 was written by Dean Ween and Alain Johannes on the ranch's front porch within four minutes of meeting each other.[citation needed] Similarly, Chris Goss and PJ Harvey wrote the song "There Will Never Be A Better Time" for I See You Hearin' Me after going out onto the porch of the ranch for four minutes with an acoustic guitar; they re-entered the house and recorded the song in one take, the only time the song was ever played by the collective.[1]

The first Desert Session was not actually a "session" per se, but Homme and his band at the time (The Acquitted Felons) playing for three days straight on psychedelic mushrooms.[citation needed] Since then, the Desert Sessions have become legendary, growing in intensity and artistic merit.

Pixies on Dennis Miller (this is the only live version of Bird Dream I have ever heard

Baths - Maximalist

Foals - This Orient (this one is the best new music I've heard this year so far IMO)
