Love that Portofino. No deployment buckle though. How hard would it be to add one?

I checked out the JLC store at South Coast Plaza this weekend and saw this in person for the first time. Looks great. Still my grail.

You'll prob have to add about 1k for the SS band instead of croc skin.
would you actually buy a watch like that from jomashop?

I have heard horror stories about that site, and other sites as well.

I would be inclined to find a B&M store and pay the little extra to make sure everything was legit.

A little extra can be $2k+ in a lot of cases. I've heard lots of good feedback regarding Jomashop and Authentic Watches. Lots of other grey market sites have had really bad stories though. Those 2 seem pretty decent though.

ADs are great, but if you're a few K away from a dream watch, grey market sites seem like a good answer.

Out of curiousity.. Why are the gold versions of certain watches almost double to the price (+9k for the JLC master calendar for example), when it looks like theres maybe 1k worth of gold on it? Any other differences, or just lol.

watches are all about creating an aura of exclusivity.

you'd cannibalize sales of the stainless if the increment to a precious metal was small..

It's difficult to say without knowing more of a style you prefer. I can tell you ones I've looked at around that price point. Ludacris mentions some decent value brands. I considered this Hamilton Jazzmaster viewmatic before deciding it was worth the extra $750 to get my Oris. The Tissot Visodate is nice, but I prefer day/date windows be the same background color as the dial. If I ever find a Seiko SARB065 for sale on an aftermarket stainless steel bracelet, I am going to buy. I did buy this Steinhart Marine 38 for $486 shipped. I'm probably going to sell it virtually new soon, but not because it's not a good watch. I couldn't pass up a more expensive watch that came available used and is too similar.

Looking at getting a price on this TAG:

So far seems to be around the 6.5-7k mark. Thoughts?

1/10TH SEC. PRECISION
CALIPER SCALE READING
CALIPER CHRONOGRAPH
CERTIFIED CHRONOMETER
1/10TH OF SECONDS

This one has the 0 thru 10 scale three times.

ty for recs. I def prefer the brown leather band style rather than the bulky metal bands. Here are the frontrunners in order of preference from what you gave me:

If you decide on the Le Locle, shoot me a PM, I have one in perfect shape that I'm about to put up on WUS for a nice discount compared to that link.

The Wolf Meridian winder I own is on sale for the lowest price I've ever seen it at Jomashop through 10/15. Only $199. I paid $250 and thought that was a great deal. I've found it to be a sharp looking winder that is a statement piece on its own but also works well.

Appreciate the previous feedback, am narrowing this down, what would you pick:

Cartier Ballon Bleu Black Dial Chronograph, 9.1k at jomashop

Breitling Transocean Black Chronograph: 5.3k at jomashop

IWC Portuguese Automatic Steel 7 day reserve, 9.8k at jomashop

Ulysse Nardin GMT Big Date Silver Dial Stainless Steel Mens Watch, 5.8k at jomashop

Jaeger LeCoultre Master Calendar Silver Dial Stainless Steel Mens, 9.5k

Hublot Classic Fusion Mat Black, 9.8k

I really like the JCL and the IWC but i didnt want to spend 10k so i am leaning towards the breitling.

I really like the look of a chrono and being able to see the movement is crucial imo.

That picture is not the 7 day IWC, it's a regular Portuguese.

I'm going with the JLC easy (though it's among the most expensive). Breitling also a nice choice. Not a big fan of the Hublot and lolCartier.

And i like the jlc the best as well, but not sure if i like it more than the breitling for 4.2k more.
