Generally amazon is pretty accurate about shipping, usually they give you a conservative estimate. I usually get stuff before the date they told me I will get it. Where are you going to hve the watch shipped? Can someone there just remail it if it arrives late?

Also how anal are us customs about this? if he puts the box in his case, and wears the watch, will customs give him trouble?
have him mail the box home.

Which watch are you looking at?

this is the one, and im afraid he wont be able to ship it to holland, as his time schedule is very tight. I mean i dont really care about the box, he could just throw taht away and take papers with him + wear the watch i guess.

OK, well amazon is not shipping that. A third party is selling that watch through amazon's website. You'll have to contact that seller directly and see how comfortable you are with his shipping policies.

Better to ship the boxes and wear the watch.

Re: Delivery times, I think you're safe if it's shipped directly by Amazon and they say it's in stock; but not if it comes from a reseller like Jomashop. They often don't source the watches until they've gotten an order for one (even if they claim it's in stock).

That watch is backordered right now by US ADs, so there is very little chance Jomashop actually has one or can get one in quickly.

BTW: That watch is not the Limited Edition "Bond" watch. It's just a 300m Seamaster Pro that happens to be black. The Limited Edition has the matte black background (no wavy lines) and a little 007 on the base of the second hand.

Amazon seems to have a lot of trouble getting descriptions right.

Seriously, I've seen this comment a few times and I don't get it. I have yet to see one on an actual arm, much less among the population that doesn't fit the multi-millionaire sub-group of the population.

You do see a bunch of them in card rooms, they're popular among the young poker player crowd, so for a few people that'll be a factor. I've never seen one on the wrist outside of a cardroom though.

I decided to buy a nice watch today and started looking into the whole topic.
I'm looking for something in the 5k$ region (altho I wouldnt mind paying less ofc), leather strap, clean design (no fancy diver's watch thingy). Generally, something understated.
I like the portugieser so far - can your recommend anything similar?

I've been looking for some inexpensive, casual watches. What do you think?

$100

$150

$60

I'm considering getting all 3. (The last one is just kind of a fun option for the beach and such.) If I got the two orient models, would it be simple to switch the black strap between the two when I wanted, or should I get an extra strap?

Also looking at this automatic for $150. They have it with a blue face as well.

It's def a good looking design, but depending on whether you give a **** or not, I think most people will assume you are trying to pass it off as a submariner even if you aren't because of the similarity in design.

Need to act by midnight tonight.

Invicta makes total junk, and regularly engages in all sorts of dishonest, shady marketing practices.

If you want an elcheapo quartz subbie homage, timex makes a pretty nice one for $40.

BTW, that orient is about 100x nicer than the invicta.

Wow, I checked the visual details on the watches and everyone was the same. Saw the Deal of the day site and didn't even see that it was a orient vs. Invicta.

I have this exact watch.
Very good build quality for the price. Orient makes a damn good watch for the money.

Keep an eye on this page and they sometimes pop up for $99 as Orient's deal of the day.

Or you could buy anything off of Orient's main site with the 40% discount code (off of list price) "people40" (good for only 1-2 days). If you miss this, they have new discount codes pop up all the time.

Decided to get a new watch today, I wanted something decent, 400-500 dollar range and found this at a local shop, Bulava Marine star:

I realize alot of the watches ITT are higher end but I thought this was a pretty good find for a $400 price tag (I got a deal on it which made the decision easy) Just wondering what you guys thought of it, most are going for the silver bulky looking watches like this and I thought the black was a little different and its still kinda "flashy" looking. Also the wavy lines on the face, are almost not noticeable on the actual watch, I think the flash from the camera in the pic really makes them stand out and look a little lame.
