For a few hundred north of 2k and fairly similar appearance, I like the Oris Artelier Chronograph. It's an automatic chronograph but no GMT. It IS pretty significantly bigger at 43.5 mm.

I emailed Seiya and he does not have any bracelets to fit the SARB 065.
How easy is it to get a bracelet put on the SARB 065?

Anyone with insight? Which brand of watches have strongest resale value/ depreciate the least. Based in UK and like the design of some of the IWCs and non flashy rolexes, I presume buying 2nd hand is preferrable if you are concerned about retaining value.

well, do you mean depreciate as a percentage of what you bought it for new? In which case probably Pateks and Rolex.

But you have to look at the other aspects of it.

For example, lets say you bought a Rolex for 8k and you resale it for 6k vs say buying an Omega for 4k and reselling it for 2.5k.

Basically, for me, resale is one of the last things I look at when considering a watch.

+1 above.. patek and rolex have strong resale markets.. current production watches depreciate like cars. a big decline once you get off the lot (not to mention the sales tax you'll never recoup) then a more gradual decline..

i buy all my watches 2nd hand except for one brand. the depreciation has been a lot more tolerable.

Thoughts on the Ebel 1911?

Gemnation has it for $1600 today, wondering if I should get it.

Things that are awesome are generally like that. I decided I wanted a small knife to carry around with me.

I started with a $40 assisted folding Gerber which I thought was a little pricey.(assisted means you give it a small flick and a spring opens it for you)

then I decided I wanted a nicer knife so I bought this sweet Kershaw side-opening automatic("Switchblade" and it was really nice for $80.

Then the safety on it broke and rather than get a new one for $0 I traded up and ended up with a $240 Microtech out the front, true switchblade. Titanium hardware, doublesided blade, skullcrusher at the end of it. Thing is insane.

All this because I got a free Amazon $10 gift card, which I still haven't used.

Being materialistic is awesome.

If I'm looking for something specific I usually start with http://www.watchrecon.com/

On a regular basis, though, I zip through WUS and a few other forums just to see what's out there and get ideas.

Why do you carry a knife?

Open boxes, cut strings, fruit, personal protection vs whatever's out there. I ride a bike and carry a lot of cash so if my bike dies while I'm out and about I'm a sitting duck. You can't see the glassbreaker behind the clip but it's a chunk of ti honed to a dull point.

Mostly though, because it's cool as ****. Same reason I wear a watch.

Back to watches!

UN: killing it?

the wave dial(first) and dimple(third) are sick. I've seen some of them in person and they're really nice. I never considered UN a young guy watch but those are both great. The third watch would be great in the summer.

****, or is it 3,1,2? first is worst, 2nd is best, last is 2nd best. Which is the prefered nomenclature??

dude it's 3,1,2 then, the other way forces you to stare at the pictures and go back to the post 100 times.

In any case, 3=1>2 the first watch is real sick, I love how it's a "two tone" with just the tiniest hint of RG

Third watch is great but I'd like it even more on rubber I think. Not feelin the UN bracelet, especially with the logo on the endlinks.

Not to derail the thread but the random carrying of a knife blows my mind a bit. Is it normal for people to carry something like that if it isnt directly involved in their work, ie going to the office, going to casino/bar etc?

Anyone caught carrying a knife here faces a minimum of 1 year jail time.

I carry a pocket knife every day, most of the time I have two on me (I always have my leatherman and usually a small pocket knife on top of that).
